Team-Xecuter Presents SX OS v2.3 BETA

TX is on roll, release after release, and today's big release is brand-new SX OS v2.3 BETA
SX23.jpg

As you read thru TX's announcement below, you will quickly see that is jam-packed with all the features you have been requesting recently like SD EmuNAND and USB Homebrew, so check it out below:
Your favorite superheroes from Team Xecuter are back with another SX OS update.

In v2.3 beta of SX OS we have some exciting new functionality that you, the community, has been requesting a lot. As you know, we value your feedback and support.. so your wishes are our command!

Let's have a look at the changelog:
  • SD emuNAND support
Since the introduction of our emuNAND feature we got a lot of comments about our initial decision to make the emuNAND data live on the actual system NAND. After lots of hard work we are happy to say we now have a workable solution for storing your emuNAND partition data on your microSD card. This has the upside of not using up any space on your Switch. In order to use the new microSD emuNAND system you will *not* have to format your microSD card. Simply enter the TX boot menu by holding Volume-+ while powering on your switch. Head into the options menu and select emuNAND on the left. Users of our existing emuNAND solution will see an option to migrate their existing emuNAND data. The migration process also cleans up the old emuNAND from the system NAND. Painless! We're interested in hearing your feedback about this exciting new functionality.
  • The 'Emutendo' folder
In addition to the new microSD emuNAND system we also introduce the 'Emutendo' folder on your microSD card. As you've probably noticed, the Switch saves various data to a 'Nintendo' folder on your microSD card. To completely decouple this data between your Original Firmware and your EmuNAND enabled firmware we have made EmuNAND enabled systems use this differently named folder. If you want keep using your old SD card data with your emuNAND, simply copy/rename the 'Nintendo' folder to 'Emutendo'.
  • Added more directories to scan for content
By popular demand we have added yet another list of subdirectories that will be scanned on your microSD card (or USB harddisk) for XCI/NSP/homebrew. The directories that have been added are:
    • – /sxos/updates
    • – /sxos/dlc
    • – /switch/updates
    • – /switch/dlc
  • Homebrew menu takeover of any title by holding R
Homebrew is usually launched from either the TX menu or the Homebrew Launcher menu. Both of these applications run as an 'applet' on the Switch. Applets do not have access to all of the system's memory, and thus any homebrew apps or games launched from here are affected by this as well. The only way to allow full use of the system's memory was to build and install homebrew NSP files. But now we have added another way to give homebrew applications full memory access! You can now hold the (R) button while launching any regular title, and this will launch the Homebrew Launcher Menu. Any homebrew launched from here will run with the same capabilities as a regular Switch game/app. Enjoy!
  • Loading homebrew from USB
More good news for homebrew lovers. You can now copy homebrew NRO files to your USB harddisk as well, and launch them directly from our SX OS menu.
  • Stability improvements
Overall stability of many components has been improved. This includes LayeredFS and USB incompatibilities. We have also fixed a bug which would prevent people from launching more than 32 titles.
  • libusbfs update
Last but not least a small update for developers. We've squashed a small bug in libusbfs pertaining the stat() function. If you had issues with this, grab an updated copy of libusbfs from our website!
The year 2018 is entering its final months. That does not mean we're taking a break from working on our beloved SX OS though. And yes, also those new 'unhackable' consoles are high up on the agenda. Don't worry, we will deliver.

Keep sending your feedback and ideas, they're very welcome.

See you all in the next update!

Thanks for the above answer.

scrolling through this thread i came across....

@garyopa Found a Bug here! After starting the game Overcooked 2 after the company logos the game ask me to press R and L to start. As soon as I do the Homebrew Menu pops up and it takes over the game and I must close the game via the home menu to exit. I assume it must have something to do with the new Homebrew menu takeover of any title by holding R feature. Not sure if other games have similar problems  I'm on 2.3 beta sd emunand Fw 6.1.0-4.0 sd exfat format.

has anybody found a workaround to get Overcooked 2 to work?

I thought the purpose of using AutoRCM is so you don't burn a fuse after using ChoiDujourNX to update the FW in Emunand and/or OFW?

Or am I getting my info confused? Unless the info I read was for the older SX OS BETA versions where the Emunand was on the NAND and not the SD CARD?
From what I heard SX OS Emunand already prevents e-fuse from burning when booting and to load it you already have to send TX payload to launch it...

Now if you want to update sysnand FW (console's Firmware) without burning e-fuses that option must be activated so that it never auto boots the FW as it would burn the e-fuses.

For SX CFW (not emunand) I think theres an extra step, check the guide for that.

PS: If I'm wrong someone plz correct me!!!

I don't have homebrew menu installed, all the games I tested so far are working 4 me, but never tried or like that game...

BTW how can I update XCI and NSP games? Do I still need Devmenu or can I just install update .nsp with SX OS Installer on emunand?

yeah the problem seems to be on certain games that require you to press L + R to start them, so if you don't have games like that, then you shouldn't have any problem. that being said, get yourself Overcooked, invite some friends over, have a blast.

as for how to update. you got it, you can just install the update nsp

I tested this as well on overcooked 2 and when I press L + R the game just freezes and nothing happens.. I have to close it from home screen.

I tested the original Overcooked game which also requires you to press L + R and it works no problem.. what do you think this is?

That happens to me when the is no homemenu.nro on the root of the sd. I remove it to see if the game would work without it but no luck. Hopefully it gets fixed on the next update.

It shouldn't be a problem for games with L+R to start with. I teseted playing Pokken, Mario kart and Mario tennis. The HBM launching by holding R is on loading, not in game function.

yeah it shouldn't be a problem, you are right. and it does seem to only be an issue with certain games (overcooked 2, lumines, from what i've seen on the forums). but i said it seems to be an issue with games that need L+R to start because on team xecuter's own forum somebody brought up the issue with overcooked 2 and team xecuter's official response was...

"This game is known to have bug, its been reported already. -- The problem is SX OS v2.3 now allows you to hold R to launch the homebrew menu, and since this game wants you to press L and R to start it causes issues.

Try quickly tapping L and R, not pressing for too long, if that does not work, sorry you will have to wait for our next SX OS release."

but since this is not an issue for all games, who knows what the real issue is. guess we will just have to wait for the next update and hope it's fixed.

Holding R while clicking on game icon and run it (still holding R until HBm started loading).
You can try Controller icon (on menu) it also loads HBM by holding R.

IKR?! Also I want to play warframe on my switch, but I cannot since I need to be on 6.2 in order to download and play T___T. Cmon Team Xecuter! What are ya guys doing?!

Im even thinking to just update to 6.2 since atmosphere already supports 6.2 so tx will follow soon(I think?)

Someone that can convince me to just update and start enjoying warframe? ;_;

If you have previous backup of the nand (on <= 6.1) you can setup emunand while keeping sysnand on the latest firmware to play online games.

Emunand 6.1cfw without sleep function+ 6.2ofw online is a good combo. I dont regret updating to 6.2, but you need to know what you arw getting/losing.

Wait, is it possible to do this?
I thought that there was no way in the actual scenario to update OFW to 6.2 and keep using emunand on 6.1. I have both OFW and Emunand on 6.1 right now with a clean nand on OFW, is there a way to do this? I'm quite excite to play warframe too.
And what do you mean by "without sleeping function"?
