Do you have a passion for the console hacking scene? Are you constantly following new announcements and developments? Would you like to help spread new information to others through our home page?

Then GBAtemp needs YOU!

We are looking for a new reporter to further expand our coverage of Nintendo Switch and 3DS scene news, homebrew projects and other news that may interest the GBAtemp community. General gaming news is already well covered by our current staff - the focus here is on the modding scene.

If any of the following apply to you - you could be who we're looking for:
  • Closely follow the console hacking scene (focus on Switch, 3DS),
  • Have expert knowledge on the current state of firmware, modding developments, homebrew projects etc.
  • Have spare time to devote to posting high quality news,
  • Have experience writing news articles/guides etc.,
Please note that this is NOT a moderator position. This is a paid news reporter position that would require you to frequently post news of a high standard to our home-page. You would also be expected to liaise with other staff via the Telegram chat app and be dependable on keeping GBAtemp.net at the forefront for major breaking developments.

If this sounds like you then you can apply below. Please tell us a bit about yourself, your position in the scene and any previous writing experience you may have and why you think you'd be a good fit for the position. Please be honest and open, we're a friendly bunch!

 If you are interested in applying, please send us a PM!

General applications will be accepted until the 7th December

I had no idea what that role meant, i just assumed it was something unspecified, like a money donation or some kind of secret inside tip, or free gift offerings. Is not like it couldn't be renamed to "Reviewer"
Contributor is a professional term usually given to new staff writers on newspapers. If the Magazine Staff ever gets to a point where we need to diversify in tasks, Reviewer might be brought back as a title in the future.

It's contributor as in 'contributes to the website'. We also write news posts though, so reviewer wouldn't be quite accurate, not to mention that Reporters also post reviews.

Honestly I don't really know much about what goes into rankings or title of roles, just was trying to find a name that is more precise without second thought. Contributor isn't a bad word by any means but is not also defining much. Maybe adding just another word to help like "News contributor" would be more obvious, no one would have to ask which means no need to explain. :P

Though I mean maybe trying to fit so many letters into one box wouldn't be good to read, so I guess less is more. :ninja:

I'm interested. I've been a fan of GBATemp since the Wii hacking scene started (RIP Tehskeen, Brakken, and Bushing). I really don't have any good writing experience, that I would have to work on. But that being said, the first console I ever modded was the original Xbox, and since then I've modded my Wii, PSP, New 3DS (first with menuhax, then A9LH, then B9S), Wii U, and Switch. I also have a few DS flashcarts, a 64drive, and installed a GBA-TV Converter on my gameboy advance. I've tinkered a little with writing homebrew, I ported one of my assignments in college to the Wii once for extra credit, but I haven't actually made any public code contributions. But I would say I very closely monitor the console hacking scene.

While I don't make many posts here, if you look at my history here I do spend a lot of time reading posts and trying to help out n00bs. I would love the opportunity to contribute more.

I am unable to send a PM. I will have time to do it alongside my YT channel "nickmoses05". I already report a lot of GBATemp stuff there but would love to do it here also.
You need a minimum of 10 posts to send a PM.

When you have that number you should be able to apply :)
