Yo Guys,

I just got a call from my brother who updated his Switch to 6.2 accidentally :D
I made a NAND Backup of his Console in June 2018 when he was on 5.0.1 and he asked me for help.

Unfortunately I never had a problem like this and never had to restore my NAND Backup.
That's why I'm asking here for him.

I know he won't be able to boot into OFW anymore because he burned his fuses.
But I believe I heard it's possible to downgrade and boot into CFW + bypassing fuses anyways.
So is this true?

I'm currently making a second NAND Backup from his 6.2 NAND just in case.
But before restoring the old one... does this work?

Although I have not done it myself I keep reading posts that claim you can. Just always have to run a bootloader first to bypass the fuse check.

I love all these “asking for a friend” posts. :teach:

You can downgrade and the switch will boot the downgraded nand with cfw but since the fuses count don't match going to sleep will freeze the console.

This is best asked in Ctcaer's thread.
In my experience you'll indeed have to boot through CFW always.
But I'm not sure about the sleeping bug.

Well, tried that.
I've restored his 5.1 backup and booted with ReiNX. First try, sleepmode worked, second try it didn't.
I guess sometimes it works somehow, but mostly it doesn't.

But since he has a Trinket M0, he's fine with that. He just boots into CFW everytime and when his sleep mode crashes, he reboots with the trinket M0.

As soon as 6.2 CFW is out, I'll restore his 6.2 NAND, tho

That's too bad! Did you try older versions of ReiNX or Hekate?

Yep.
The Sleepmode thing is a common bug that's still unpatched, it seems. Unfortunately

Its not a bug, its a fuse mismatch that gets checked on warmboot and cannot be patched out. It will crash so long as the fuses mismatch and it will always check at warmboot (waking from sleep).

It's not a bug unfortunately, is a thing (that I don't remember how it is called) that allows the switch to awake the switch from sleepmode that is encrypted with nintendo private keys, it checks for fuses on awake and it can't be patched
