I installed haxchi (not CBHC).
I have installed some games to internal storage and I am playing others with loadiine gx2.
I am planning to continue install my games on internal storage; is there a risk of bricking? Should I invest in an external HDD and install on the HDD instead?

what can cause bricking?

I got a scare last night when I was installing mario kart using wup installer gx .... in the middle of the install (20%) ... the power plug unplugged and my wii u console shut down... thank god nothing happened.. I just installed the game again ... is there actually a risk bricking the console when an install is interrupted?

No since the working directory during install is temporary, you will get a "found unnecessary data " warning when accessing data management, thats all

ok thx man! I see a brick with monster hunter update .. damn...

so with HDD, there is no risk of brick?

I mean sure it looks frightening but you should know that when that brick was reported, it was in the really early days of installing stuff to the wii u, previously only Loadiine had been used. I can't remember exactly when but that time was around when "the brazillian method" was appearing, so all the programs and the files used for installation hadn't been as tested. Personally I have installed to the nand and I assume that if bricks were common when installing to nand we would hear alot more of it. But if you want to be on the safe(r) side, install to HDD and then use the wii u settings to move from USB to nand

is there a risk of bricking if you install games on a unreliable/old harddrive? I have a very old 500gb spare portable Hitachi harddrive ... it is not exactly in good shape.. it is noisy

No, as written above installing games should bei finde wherever you Like. Installing cbhc to a wrong Game and Messing around with ftpiiu are the Major Risks afaik. Just installing games should normally bei save. As you also have expirienced, also Blackouts during Install are normally harmless.
