Same, it's just another indie game which hung unto EarthBound fame way too hard, and it appealed to the weabos.

Earthbound is such a better game at the same time, especially with the ROM hack that uncensors everything Nintendo changed :creep: Even then, it's good. Undertale is just some game with 8-bit graphics and music and multiple endings.

...
the fandom makes it awful. stay away from this game.
I've never understood the mentality of this.

Why would you avoid playing a game because of what other people do with it?
Especially if it's a single-player game that requires no interaction with other people.

What's so great about the game? Why is it so highly-praised? Why does everyone recommend it? All I see is some indie game with characters that
just so happened to be popular over time, that's it.

If it weren't for the fandom making this game seem like it's the next coming of Jesus in virtual form, I would be on it as well, but they keep pushing this shit like there's no tomorrow.
did you fall asleep in 2016 and wake up just now? the general rabidness of undertale's fanbase has calmed down quite a lot.

the battle system is unique, the soundtrack is memorable, and the humor doesn't overstay its welcome

Okay, but still, I just don't see the appeal really. Sorry.

Because hating on popular stuff is fun and makes you the cool kid. All you need to say is "the fandom is bad" and you'll get swarmed by other entitled people who agree with you, because they've seen some guy commenting some other random guy's posts with like 2 views being a total nut case about the game, media or whatever it is.

I love this game. I know almost nothing about the fanbase because Did You Know?: you dont have to look up rule 34 stuff for a game you like. The only signs I ever see of this game are the "Sans Undertale for <insert game title here>" memes.

Update 31 October 2018

The announcement has been posted. The Undertale Twitter account has posted another series of tweets and linked a website. The site is https://www.deltarune.com/, which contains a couple of warnings and a downloadable Windows/Mac program. It is available in English and Japanese, and may contain flashing imagery. People are also asked not to discuss the contents of the program for 24 hours “for public safety.”
