Wait, why am I talking like it's the real thing, lol. It doesn't matter either way.
I don't even know how TerribleTy27 advances the story, if he just makes it up on the spot or what.

So far it has been identical to the actual gameplay, but in a narrative perspective.

I'm currently running through a playthrough of FireRed. As the Plot starts to diverge from the game, I'll be looking at the algorithms for leveling up, etc. Right now I'll just be sticking to FireRed though.

You look around.

Viridian city... It isn't much of a city. You think back to Route 1. Charmander had gained a level along the way. He's getting tougher, but he's not nearly tough enough. You probably need to grind. You slap your cheeks. First things first. You heal up your CHARMANDER at the Pokécenter. As you walk to the Pokémart, you can't help but feel giddy. You're a real Pokémon trainer, going to a real Pokémart.

"Hey! You came from PALLET TOWN?"

The shop keeper begins putting weird emphasis on POKÉWORDS, not that you're surprised. As the man goes on about the parcel, you ask yourself what's wrong with these weirdos. As soon as you grab the parcel, you're out. You jump over the ledges to make it back to Pallet. You walk over to the lab and open the door. Oak is hunched over a blueprint of some kind. What is that thing-? Oak jumps up. "Eh! M'boy, uh, do you have the parcel?!" He says quickly. He snatches it out of your hands.

Before you can question his behavior, Blue bursts through the door. Oak looks almost grateful for the interruption. He then gives the rehearsed 'Pokétrainer' speech. You sigh. You've heard all this before. Finally he finishes and passes you his balls. Once again, he gives a long-ass explanation for how to catch Pokémans.

By the time you're out the door, you never realize how you never asked what was in the parcel.

I like Spearow a lot more, but because it's FireRed we can teach Charizard fly later if we want. Nothin' against Pidgey though, he's pretty cool

What the hell? What the hell?

You remember closing your eyes for just a second after capturing RATTATA. You remember walking to the Pokémon center and asking for a room. You remember the clean white wallpaper of the ceiling as you fell asleep.

You remember every detail of your first day as a trainer.

So why?

Why the hell are you back in Pallet Town?

You tried to think and a muddled thought came to the surface. Blue could be pranking you. Somehow.

The window. There's no way they could've replaced the window overnight perfectly. The nearest supplier is several routes away. You open the curtain. Sunlight streams in.
...
The same window. Every detail is the same. That can't be possible. No way.

Focus.

A little bit of you took full control. You didn't have time to freak out.

You soared down the stairs and walked out the door. If anyone knows what happened, it'll be Oak. As you open the door, you're greeted with the smell of ash. Ash. The word means something. Like the cry of a siren, the name lures you. This room is important to Ash.

You blink. That thought train came out of nowhere.

You slap your cheeks. Focus.

As your eyes adjust to the darkness of the room, you start to make out the power switch. With a click the lights flickered to life.

The lab was in total disarray. When Oak was on the verge of a discovery, he did tend to get messy. But this was ridiculous. Paper lined the floor. Practically every drawer was opened. No stone was unturned. Under the table, a red smudge-

The Pokéball table. With a shrug, you grabbed Charmander's ball.

You heard a buzzing. It was Oak's computer. You stepped forward, nearly slipping on a piece of paper.

You clicked enter.

The computer roared, turning on all its tasks once more. At the forefront of his desktop sat an untitled text document.

Hesitantly, you double clicked it.

Your eyes widened in understanding. You ransacked through the nearby drawers. A Pokédex. Quickly, you grabbed it. You clicked the side button, turning it on. With a glint in your eye, you typed in the button combination. The activation window popped on screen, alongside a keyboard. Using the DPad, you entered in the activation code.

The screen shut off, turning black for a second. When turned back on, you were greeted with a bunch of square icons arranged in a grid. One with a pixel Charizard was highlighted with a blue glow. At the top, a text box displayed the name.

Pokémon: FireRed.

You tried to select another game, but it was stuck on FireRed. With a shrug, you clicked A.

When the game finished loading, you were surprised to see a pixel representation of Oak's lab. There was a pixel guy in the middle of it. You clicked one of the directional buttons. Nothing. As you began to pace-

The character moved.

You moved to the left.

You eyed the letter buttons. With a grimace, you clicked X.

A menu popped on screen. There were several options. Pokémon, Pokédex...

Save manager?

You tapped A once more.

A submenu. There was one 'empty slot'. It was already highlighted, so you clicked A.

Saving... Don't turn off the power...

The empty slot was now replaced with various information. Time, Date, Badges... Name?

You paced for a minute and looked at the clock. 10:27.

The slot was still highlighted. A.

The world lurched. A million colors flew at you like dynamite. And then it stopped. For a second everything was black. Finally you came too. As you blinked the stars out of your eyes, you realized where you were.

Next to the computer.

You looked at the clock.

10:25.

Your eyes widened. You needed to get out of there. It was messing with your mind.

You dashed into Route 1.

By the time you reach Viridian City, you've got that RATTATA you wanted. And now you're healed up and ready to go! Also you have a magic Pokédex, but we're not gonna talk about that.
