Yes, you read right; the PlayStation 3 received a new firmware update. Version 4.83 is available to download for your PS3 systems at this time, offering more stability for your console. Full details are not known, in regards to what changes this makes to exploits or homebrew, so if you value keeping your system hacked, please do not update until more information is made available. The previous firmware, 4.82, was pushed late last year, on November 14, 2017, and the past three updates have purely been about increasing stability. If you enjoy incredibly stable PlayStation 3's, feel free to update.

Beginning October 11, 2018, we have started updating to update PS3® body functions. In this update, the system software version will be 4.83, and the following functions will be updated.

■ main function to be updated in version 4.83

• In system software, stability of operation has been improved.

UPDATE: PS3exploit has been patched by the firmware and no longer works.

4.82 is easy to get cfw on. Just follow almost any guide you can find.

That's just it. I have been trying, unsuccessfully in finding a guide to do so. I thought ps3xploit v3 as it is would work, but it isn't even starting to work. My google fu just isn't working.

You have a modded Wii? Does it have cfgloader? If it does, may I see the files on the SD card/USB? I’m trying to set mine up but currently having trouble.

the redthetrainer link doesn't work. Just gives me a file not found error. At first the ps3 browser itself wouldn't even let me enter the full address.
None of it is working. Annoyingly enough, neither redthetrainer nor ps3xploit.com pages will actually load on the ps3 right now

Well, would have replied sooner, but the site was having server issues, so it said over and over.

Took several tries, but this morning, I was able to get a few additional files on the USB, and finally, finally, it took. Now my PS3 slim is on 4.82.2 Rebug.

Nice find on the SEN enabler. but seeing as Sony more than likely banned my account as well, It's safely not worth the effort to create a whole new ID just for them to go and ban this console on me, too. But thanks for sharing.

I will say, the PS3Xploit method is definitely obnoxious as crap, that it took this many tries before it all finally worked.

Has anything related to game saves changed with 4.83? I am wondering because I use BSD (Bruteforce Save Data) for save editing. Does anyone know if BSD still works with 4.83? Thoughts and help greatly appreciated

If anyone's interested, i tried the offline han toolbox mod, and it works fine on 4.82 ofw CEX. Doesn't work on 4.82 ofw DEX. I'm using it right now and it's great, a completely offline han enabler. There is also yet another offline mod which also enables debug pkgs. I'm using this variant, if anyone's interested let me know, I'll send a pm (i don't know if i can link it here)

Really hate these useless firmware updates without any new features. I had to update my PS3 a few weeks ago because it wouldn't play Blu-rays otherwise I'd not have bothered.

I do wish my PS3 was hacked but I rarely use it, anyway.

What firmware were you on? I can still play my old Blu-rays on REBUG 4.8.1-2 REX.

*Got impatient and upgraded to 4.83 FERROX COBRA. Had to reinstall webMAN-MOD, but multiMAN is broken... Oh well, I don't really use it these days.
