I wish I started a new job and literally have 0 time to dedicate to it. The code and documentation is up if anyone wants to take a stab at it, But i need to spend the time debugging/disassembling file load to see whats going wrong. Frankly that is not a super simple task so.

I'm honestly on almost every day, if anyone wants to take up the mantel I will gladly explain everything I know and be willing to help where ever possible. I just don't have the time to figure out the bug in the code.
The game crashes when loading assets, I think its a directory tree issue with how I'm repacking them but I cant prove it and do not know _how_ the original decided on File table ordering. Which I honestly believe to be the issue. I want to assume its erroneously trying to decompress data out of assigned memory which is causing it to try to read from unassigned ram which causes it to crash.

TBH the actual text translation isn't the issue, I'm having issues properly injecting assets back into the game.

i'll take up the mantel if you give me the instructions and what i need to do and once completed i'll put it up to obtain

I'm assuming this is completely dead. Sad as I was hoping for a translation even if it was experimental. Made it past the Kraken all in Japanese. Memorization of what items do is key i guess.

This isn't completely dead lol, there's just a massive roadblock. If that roadblack can be passed then it'll be done in no time, no point in giving up on it so quickly.

3 years is when this thread first started. I kinda gave up after 2 years and found this again. And please do share this roadblock. If people knew what it was then you would be able to get more help.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread. The insertion process is causing the game to crash.

Yeah, inserting the translated text causes a game crash. That's the roadblock. Getting the text files out was a vital step that's been completed, but putting them back after modification is something the game does not seem to like.

Game is very picky if you mod it, it does not like it at all. Need to find a way around. If we can it should be much easier to translate.

I'd do that just to play through my Mother 3 cartridge (which is in japanese) but I think i would forget everything quickly. Also not the kind of guy that would download the game's script just to know what characters are saying
