Does Lakka Do DS ROMs?
Sorry - there's a ton of useless nerds on here who choose to still respond while not answering the question, stupid I know.

Yes, Lakka can play DS. Although it's not full speed it's much better than anything else right now.

So is this pretty much dead in the water or does it still have a chance of being completed or getting to a point where it runs most games at an acceptable performance?

@Laprox and @MasterFeizz now that we have Open GL support with latest libnx release is there any chance this homebrew maybe updated,

Sorry, for being a ghost. I'll try and get a quick update out, I'm gonna hold off on a source code update 'cause the code is very messy and not quite working how I want.

- [Resolved for now] Experiencing compiling errors for audio, not even attempted OpenGL yet.

- [Still Occuring] Compiling Errors fixed, but broke cpu threading. Thank LibNX 1.4.0 for this. Roms not booting for latest unreleased version.

- [Resolved for now] Somehow more compiling errors have been exposed in code I have not touched before.

Gonna edit this to main post, sorta.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be getting DeSmuME's OpenGL renderer working very easily with libnx's current implementation. The current drivers don't support everything DeSmuME needs; specifically glx.h. Hopefully as the drivers continue to be worked on it'll be added eventually. But for now, we're out of luck.

Looks like there's enough screen space to simulate the gap between the two screens of the DS. Please consider adding an option for that.

Oddly, this app no longer loads games for me. All it displays is a black screen with "Microphone successfully inited. DeSmuME 0.9.12 git#0". I didn't do anything different. Was going to try and see if the NSP version of the HB Menu made a difference, since using that is said to give 3gb of RAM instead of the 1gb using the album. Tried to load it, again, before trying the NSP.
