Hi all.

I don't know if it's a known issue or if my remote is damaged.
But everytime I load an app such as Wad manager or DVD player from Homebrew, my wii motion plus disconnects and won't reconnect at all.
The lights won't turn on.

I have to use my old wii remote to exit homebrew.

Is there a fix for this?

Above poster is incorrect the older WM+ works fine on all homebrew seems that u have the newer revision of the WM+

Try using a more recent version that has updated libraries for the new wii motion + remotes. Now if there's an even newer wii motion double plus remote that I haven't heard about as indicated by the self-proclaimed 'wii expert' above then I could be mistaken, in which case the solution would still be to update your apps, but with a yet to be released update.

The bolded statement is incorrect. Not ALL homebrew supports the older WM+. Since the OP never said what specific wad manager he was using, it's quite possible he's using one from way back in the day before even the original WM+ adapters were launched.... so there certainly isn't enough information at this point to say I'm wrong.

These are the versions of the things I use:

Wii 4.3E
Homebrew 1.1.2
Ios58 v24.32
Wad manager 1.7

Am I missing something?

The wad installer does not matter as a wad installer can't change compiled code aka a wad file

Ignore Shadow he's not being helpful. You just need a newer wad manager. Like YAWMM or Wii Mod Lite.

On a related note, I caution you against installing wads without knowing what you're doing.
Thank you.
So far I've been installing wads via wad manager.
Is there a guide that you can recommend?

And on the same note, the DVD player app has the same issue of disconnecting the wm+

I recommend ModMii but there are parts of the guide that don't support wii motion + controllers. That being said u can still download YAWMM from one of Modmii Classic's download pages. You can also grab WiiMC for watching videos, pretty much all the apps have been updated for wii motion + support u just gotta Google for them and update them on your sd card

I'm having the same issue with modded vWii (Wii U's Wii mode). I keep running into homebrew apps that refuse to reconnect my Wii Remote Plus (thus forcing me to unplug the Wii U, as I had no way of turning it off or stopping the app), so I actually had to dig out my old Wii remote and put batteries in it. It works fine on several of these decade-old programs.

However, shouldn't there be some kind of "catch all" script that is run with each program so that older programs unofficially support Wii Remote Pluses without fully supporting the MotionPlus feature? I wouldn't know if that's the right solution, but surely something can be done to get these programs that aren't being updated anymore to recognize Wii Remote Pluses.

the app itself needs to be recompiled to support WM+ wiimotes there is no "catch all"

Remember, the external Motion+ was designed so that it could be left plugged in all the time without conflicting with older software, and so were both generations of the integrated one; however homebrew Wiimote drivers are not directly based on the official ones (they were probably written without any access to official documentation) so whoever wrote them only made them (with trial and error) right enough to work with what they had, without guarantees of continuing to work on (then hypothetical) variants on the controller

A similiar "just functionally equivalent to work on official drivers" applies to many 3rd party controllers :)
