You probably chose a CPMA or OSP server. Since you're running vanilla Q3 and don't have any mods installed, you can only connect to "vanilla" servers. Those are marked with "DM"/"CTF"/"TDM" instead of "osp" or "cpma" or whatever.
EDIT: Actually, that's not quite correct, but modded servers generally do require more memory. Are you running this through album hbmenu or NSP hbmenu?

yes that was the problem.... not the right server.... but now i get the message that map could not be loaded :-(

Where i can get a map pack `?

You can enable Automatic downloads in the Options menu and it'll probably download the map for you. Otherwise, search the map name on Google, you're bound to find a download link.

I'm using this exact setup.
NOT working for me either. Insta crash on launch.
Haven't had time to look at the log file tho. Will give
it a check when I have some frere time.

With this happening you probably wont have a log file like me..
It must be crashing before log file is created..

Follow the instructions to a T. You don't have to copy the whole baseq3 folder and replace the one that the NRO comes with, just copy the PK3s. Also make sure you have all of them, including the point release PK3s. This is all mentioned in the OP.

I follow the instructions. Copy ioquke3 folder from switch folder from .zip to my switch folder on SD. Copy all files from Baseq3 folder from my Q3A game to Baseq3 folder instead q3config.cfg file, and “vm” was here before. Try to lunch on SX OS, in Homebrew section still stay all my .nro’s but ioquake3 is not here! But if I throw ioquke3.nro to SD/switch patch directly - is appear in hombrew section but crash on lunch

It works fine, you must be doing something wrong

Do you get a crashlog file in /switch/ioquake3?
Yes, a crash file I get, it sad: put you Baseq3 path to sd/switch/ioquake3/, we check many many files in to this path, but can’t find needed. Check sd/switch/ioquake3/Baseq3/switch/ioquake3/baseq3 path!!! What’s this!??

Give me a listing of what you have in your baseq3 folder on your SD card. Also make sure all folder names are in lowercase.

"pak0.pk3" is missing. Please copy it from your legitimate Q3 CDROM. Point Release files are missing. Please re-install the 1.32 point release. Also check that your ioq3 executable is in the correct place and that every file in the "baseq3" directory is present and readable

Check that it did indeed copy over correctly to your SD card. Also check for archive flags on all the files just in case.
If neither of that does anything, try ONLY copying the pak0-pak8 pk3s. So your baseq3 folder on the SD card would look something like
Code:
 switch/
- ioquake3/
-- baseq3/
--- vm/ (the one that comes with the NRO)
--- pak0.pk3
--- pak1.pk3
--- ...
--- pak8.pk3
--- q3config.cfg (the one that comes with the NRO)

I only get a grey screen, no crash or crash log with this. Any ideas? Already tried re-copying to SD and double checking everything.

Other stuff like QuakespasmNX works fine.

I don't know, actually. Check if the vm folder is present in baseq3.
Is your Switch connected to the internet?
