Stardew Valley has already gotten its online multiplayer patch for the PC platform, but players on other systems are still waiting. The wait for Nintendo Switch players won’t be that much longer, though, as developer ConcernedApe has finished work on the patch. Now, it’ll go into QA/bug testing to make sure it’s good for release, and will then roll out as an update on the eShop. After the Switch release, PlayStation 4 and Xbox owners will then be in line to receive an update next after development moves to both of those systems. A solid release date should be available in a relatively short timeframe.

If by local you mean local wireless, I think that's been confirmed. Don't believe there's a same system co-op though.

If there's crossplay you could get it on PC, have one of the kids put their stuff in a chest, have them connect and then the new PC profile can grab the stuff in the chest.

As far as i remember, no local co-op and no crossplay since there was some problems with it. Or it was just for pc, since it require steam / gog / etc. Not sure.

I am gonna take a guess and say Sony are only going to do cross play for extremely busy large online games like H1Z1, fornite and other games like it, fornite being the first obvious one. I will love to be proven wrong though because I want this as cross-play along with Ark.

I'll get here eventually. I know im a sucker for farming sims even if its only the Rune Factory games. But this one... looks so pretty and inviting. I will get to you someday Stardew Valley. But not with multiplayer. These are single player experiences for me.

This isn't planned. It will require 2 switches and 2 copies of the game.
