Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn will actually support all models of 3DS

When Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn was shown in the latest Nintendo Direct, nothing was mentioned in regards to any limitations on playing the game. However, the official Nintendo website noted that the game would exclusively play only on New models of the 3DS and 2DS. Now, Nintendo has ammended their listing of the game to remove all mention of that fact, meaning that Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn will be playable on all 3DS family systems, and that the prior listing was merely a mistake. The port of the 2010 Wii game will launch for the 3DS later next year.

The hit Wii game Kirby’s Epic Yarn is warping to Nintendo 3DS. Every stage in the original Wii version is stitched in, but this Nintendo 3DS version has some new features, like the ability to craft bigger yarn balls, summon bead-collecting wind and play two new modes featuring familiar faces King Dedede and Meta Knight.

Dammit... There's no need to support O3DS anymore. Most people own N3DS hardware by now. I want to see more N3DS exclusives! Stuff that really pushes the hardware to it's limits! Xenoblade is about all there is!!!

Hooray!!

But it still would mean it'll run slower on Old 3DS models, right?
Probably. Or it will be optimized for O3DS, making the game play like ass for everybody. Remember Pokemon Sun/Moon and UltraSun/UltraMoon? Those were alalso optimized for O3DS and not N3DS, so the framerate came to a grinding halt on both systems. If it was N3DS only, it would have been fine.

im glad nintendo is letting it work on o3ds aswell ill tell you ive owned 4 3ds consoles 2 normal 3ds consoles 1 grey one red and 2 3ds xls both red i bought all 4 of those before the new 3ds was ever announced so im sure you can see my issue with it being on a newer only system nintendo was smart how they marketed it they released the system with xenoblade chronicles being an exclusive to boot i believe minecraft is aswell..snes classics are exclusive to the system aswell but they also wanna play it smart game sales wise they want the games to reach as many of people as possible that means making it work on both o3ds and n3ds thats why just like the dsi there isnt alot of exclusives

You mean like The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth?

That's just bad programming. Games can be frame locked based upon the model (30 vs 60). Look at Blaster Master Zero released on the 3DS and Switch. They're very similar except for the frame rate (and some Switch exclusive second player stuff).

Maybe the game will run 30 FPS on O3DS, and 60 FPS on N3DS model?
That should have been done with Pokemon... We don't have a single Pokémon game optimized for N3DS hardware, and we never will.

With Dokey Kong Contry Returns 3D, and Capitain Toad i realy didn't understand why it neded to be New 3ds only, i can play it on the Wii but i'm glad to hear it was a mistake.

wow i undestand making New 3DS only titles when neded, but this is a bit too much, locking a title just because is not right.

Jeez... Last time when it was listed as N3DS exclusive, people were like "Why!? Why not O3DS?"

Now that we know it will indeed work on O3DS, people are now like "Why couldn't it be N3DS exclusive?"

Make up your minds... I don't care either way. I only have a O3DS since I've had ZERO reason to get a N3DS as there are no exclusives I'm interested in.

Eee I've got all sorts in my house, from O3DS to N3DS, even a 2DS....(missus and kids), and while I do of course know the New is the best performer, I'm quite content playing on my Zelda LBW special edition O3DS, so this is great news for me!
Just a shame we have to wait until next year for it! At least I've got the Wii version: the Snow Land levels (alongside Christmas NiGHTS) are essential pre-chrimbo gaming for me!
