If you have a Windows computer on hand, you might be able to recover your 3DS files setup using a data recovery software.

Several popular programs
To get the unlocked consumer grade stuff, either buy one or find some other way to acquire these.

Make sure your SD card is working correctly by following these instructions:
  • Copy everything off the SD card to a computer.
  • Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw.
  • If the card passes, delete the *.h2w test files.
    • A hardware failed card requires replacing (check my signature for options) and going back to step 1.
If you get any errors while doing the H2testw part, you need to buy a new SD card.

Then follow https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup

You'll also need boot.3dsx on your SD card for homebrew to work (linked earlier in the thread).

I've just had something similar happen to me. I removed the sd card through windows properly but it still got screwed up through my pc case's msd slot upon removal. The card has gone RAW, but some recovery tools seem to still see the directories. Any way I can save everything I have on the card? It's quite a lot that would be annoying to re-rip and re-organize. Is there a way to 'format' back to FAT32 without wiping it clean? Are installed cias saveable with some kind of software or would I need to create a new cia and reinstall?

Can you screenshot and post what you see for the data recovery tools that see the directories?

No. :/

Refer to the list of data recovery programs in the above post #7. Do any of your scan results summarize the names of your lost folders and files that were on your SD card?

Yes one of the free with limitation programs can see the directories as I said. I want to know if the entire card is saveable without having to wipe it first; if it's possible to go back to FAT32 from RAW.

any format change is going to wipe the card. We need to see about collecting and backing up what you can get ahold of first.
