I'm trying to run Xenoblade Chronicles and I've tried downloading from 3 different sources. Including a redump. I've added the game through WBM to the WBFS folder and everything is fine. The file is split into wbf1 and wbfs but that shouldn't be an issue right? At first, I thought it was the USB, so I bought a 2.0 one that was on the compatible list. And without the xenoblade game, the usb can read it and load into the menu. But whenever I add the xenoblade, the menu goes straight to the white screen and freezes... I can only force shut down at that point. It is very frustrating... I know this is an old post but I see no fix... I've even tried formatting my usb to wbfs but my computer doesn't let me transfer files to the flashdrive because it can't read it apparently. Plus, I thought FAT32 was fine.

UPDATE: I've tried formatting the usb to NTFS and transferred the WBFS file to the wbfs folder. It didn't even get past initialize usb.
I deleted the WBFS file and instead directly copied the ISO into the folder and renamed it to the SX1E something looking file. Following another suggestion in an old thread.
It passed the initialize but i'm back to the white screen of death (menu) with no buttons and frozen wii. I don't know what I should do anymore.

Another noob question, I have a backup of the files of my old config/apps that worked just in case i wanted to back to it. Is it bad that I copied those files to my new USB? Do I need a fresh config and app folder? How do I get that?

Don't use WBFS, it's obsolete now. Use Wii Backup Manager to transfer games, FAT32 32k or 64k clusters is preferrable since that's what Nintendont supports.
Flash drives are problematic with USB loaders, there might not be anything you can do to get it working, but what you can try is to set the loader IOS in USB Loader GX to IOS58 (other loaders don't support this), it should get the game list to load but the games might still not work, in which case you need to get a proper USB HDD.

Okay, I formatted it to FAT32 again and transferred the ISO file using WBM. It's now stuck on loading config

Yeah, that's probably not going to fix your problem, it was just a general suggestion.
Try the other stuff I mentioned.

wait can you explain how to get the config and app folders? When I format my drives, those folders get deleted right? How do I get new ones?

I have no idea what the config folder is, but you can copy all that before formatting, or just put your apps on an SD card instead.
