I had a ton of games on my SD card, then a new SX OS update came out so I took out the SD card. My laptop was having trouble recognizing my SD card so I got another laptop and wiped my card (apparently it became write protected), anyways I insert it back to the original laptop, took 2 tries before it recognized my SD card

Then I’m transferring my NSP files. As soon as I copy and paste for LA Noire to my SD Card, suddenly my laptop crashes and says something has gone wrong.

Any idea why? I’m switched back to XCIs but they’re slower (but I probably shouldn’t complain, it’s backup games whatever)

Fake or corrupted SD card.
"apparently it became write protected" is the first thing that should invite you to think that.
Try another microSD and if it's that buy another one from a reliable seller.

The nsps didn't crash your trash laptop
Your laptop hdd is probably going bad. Get a new computer
AS A SIDENOTE, sometimes my laptop doesnt recognize my sd card, I have to reinsert it multiple times, or I have to restart the laptop, once again this started when my laptop first started crashing, and so did SX OS on my switch when I placed update files for certain games for the first time. Basically problems started there. Should I switch to another laptop? Blame my sd card? Or blame the bad update files, if they are even bad in the first place

My laptop crashed a bunch and only nsps Ive ever used were dlc and a mislabeled update. In fact, mainly it was getting stuff like 3ds CIA's. But I changed some power settings, and it seems to not do it as much anymore. overheating can be a real bitch.

  • Maybe your SD card adaptor is broken. [previously my laptop can't read my micro SD card but when I tried using my spare SD adaptor it read it with no problem.]
  • Broken Driver [Reinstall your card reader driver from the Laptop manufacturer, Windows 10 Default Drivers is crap]
  • Broken Card Reader "If the area around your SD Card reader is heating up then it may have some problems but its unlikely. as long as it can read and write then its good"
