You can't store 3DS games on system memory, even if they're really small. You'll just get a black square on your home screen that doesn't do anything.

Looking into getting CFW on my gf's 3DS so we can play some more games together (out of region ones and whatnot) and need some clarifications on certain things I noticed on the guide... I haven't CFWed a 3DS since 11.3 using udsploit and the SeedMiner method is fairly different to that so want to make sure I don't mess up along with trying to skip anything obsolete (eg: theme managers). I tried asking Quantumkitty but she's not familiar with SeedMiner, so asking on here instead...

In "Prep Work" at step 14, it says the 32 character long string is the ID0. Do we only care about that one or the 32 character string in the name of the folder inside it too?

At step 18, it says something about possibly needing to make a new Mii or having gotten banned. What is that about exactly? Is that in case you are already banned/have corrupted Mii or there's a risk to corrupt/get banned at that early a stage?

In "SeedMiner", it suggests using this website. Does this completely skip the need to bruteforce anything myself? I have an AMD GPU, so no CUDA C to bruteforce fast, meaning having a way to skip bruteforcing myself without having to look for people to help would be great!

In "Finalizing Setup", I see some stuff that weren't there last time I installed CFW, like things relating to the RTC, are those actually important or can they be skipped? My RTC never got messed up after all when I used SoundHax on my 2DS long ago... Also DSP1, which is useless for what my gf is going for (doesn't care about sound in homebrews), plus Anemone is pointless. Additionally, isn't HomebrewLauncher.cia completely unusable nowadays since there are no payloads for it for new firmwares plus we have HBL injection anyway with Rosalina? Finally, does b9s tool automatically make a NAND backup before injecting b9s to the NAND? Didn't see a backup mentioned anywhere, so wondering if no automatic backup is done at the very start in case you mess up...

The problem is that when I try to launch the game I get stuck in the Nintendo 3DS screen. How do I fix this?

For the record, I'm able to play newer games than Spirit of Justice (can run Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions w/o problems). I'm on Arm9LoaderHax ver. 7.0.5, FBI ver.2.2.6.

Your firmware is probably too low. Update to B9S https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s and update your firmware to 11.8 after.

If Quantum's advice doesn't work, try importing the game's seed (FBI > Titles > PW:AA - SoJ > Import Seed).

Describe your problem further. Also...

Assuming you have boot9strap 1.3, what happens if you put the boot.firm on this .7z file on the root of your SD card?

Hi y'all, new to posting, been browsing forever. I have an old 3DSXL I haven't touched in forever and it has Gateway Ultra 4.2 on it with the A9LH. I want to have the newest luma and be able to play online. I've been trying to follow this guide, 3ds.hacks.guide, the a9lh-to-b9s page. I'm having no luck with getting "Section II - Installing boot9strap, Step 1" to work (holding start while booting). Anyone got any advice on what I should do or where I should go?

i figured i would ask here before i try something dumb.

can ctr transfers (or in this case restoring to sysnand) work on a 3ds that was backed up on another? maybe if i can get someone off-site to backup their sysnand and send me the file for me to restore in (and then i will format the 3ds to start anew)...

edit: the ctr seems to be possible to backup through decrypt9wip and not godmode9. they should add that to gm9 soon... i am still unsure if i am able to restore it on a different 3ds for example.

Sometimes when downloading from the CDN the seed wouldn't download right, so some CIAs would be like that. Since you can no longer download from CDN, either find new ones that have the seed inside or after you inject the seed, dump them yourself, then any future installs from the CIAs you dump will have them. Thank you, so I've gotten up to the point of dumping the cia and I have two options. (standard and legit) Is legit the version that requires the dat file? I've read the legit cia thread but I still dont understand when you want to use each type.

I am new to CFW. I have been following the 3ds hacks guide provided by Plailect. And I got stuck in the finalizing steps when I couldn’t get the Homebrew launcher to work. I found out that it wouldn’t work because I’m using Luma 7.1 and I need 8.0 or higher. I tried using the latest release of Luma3DS but for some reason I could only get the boot.firm for luma 7.1 to work. Any other version and my DS wouldn’t start up just a black screen.

I am using a:
Nintendo 3ds(old version)
r4i sdhc flashcart
Boot9strap 1.3
Luma3DS 7.1

When I started the process my DS was 11.6 but the finalizing process said to update so now it is 11.8.
