Nintendo Direct delayed due to earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan

Earlier, a powerful earthquake of 6.6 magnitude struck in the island of Hokkaido, Japan. This has left at least 8 people dead, with hundreds of injuries and dozens missing. Due to the tragic earthquake, Nintendo have announced that the Nintendo Direct previously planned for later today has been delayed to some point in the near future.

Not sure about this. Seen the earthquake happened before Nintendo announced the direct in the first place. I believe Nintendo saw the backlash of people sick of indies and smash heavy announcements and decided to delay the direct. The earthquake was a nice excuse to back now for down

Edit nvm. Saw this was a second much more powerful then the one earlier reported this week.

Millions of people now just lost a roof above their heads.
Although, I’ve heard Japanese people are really good at protecting themselfs when an earthquake happens, except for 8 people, who passed away.
It's true but this was a 7 magnitude earthquake. It caused massive damage.

Even if a ton of damage has been done, I think (or at least I hope) that there won't be many dead people, they're well prepared for things like these.

This earthquake was really bad, 7.0 on the Shindo scale. That's as high as the scale goes.

Adding to @zoogie, shit's bad. :(

[wikipedia] Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale

For anyone who's looking for a conversion from Shindo to Richter, this isn't possible.

Omg Japan can't get a break =(
Is there an organization setup for donations or anything yet?

I can't even fathom how terrible this must be for the people there.
