Hacking Question SX Pro/Gear and R4S?

I wanted to maybe get an SX Pro/Gear or R4S, but I have several questions about them.

1. Which one is better?
2. Will they brick the Switch?
3. Will the jigs damage the Switch?
4. Can you connect them to a computer; if so, how?
5. How do you backup/restore the NAND with them?
6. Is there anything that cannot be used with them (Hekate, ReiNX, Atmosphere, Linux, Lakka, Homebrew Launcher, etc)?
7. What site would be the best to buy them from?

R4S - Dongle for any .bin payload (I think)

1. SX Is smaller I guess. Both are good, R4S is more practical.

3. Yes. it can, but would it?
4. You can connect the R4S I think via micro USB
5. That's not a question about the dongles. Use Hekate.
6. Nope.
7. nds-card.com probably.

If you want to use anything else more than SX OS, go for the R4S dongle.

They are designed to not cause damage. But obviously, they will tear down sometime.

1. I don't know. I own none of them They should be about the same size

2. The Device itself can't brick you but the payload or the CFW can. That's why i wouldn't use it. They had brick code in the OS. It would brick you if you messed with the files on the sd(When you tried to crack the software) They removed it with SXOS 1.3 (or something like this) but that's still a point to have trust issues. Do you know the 3ds Flashcard Gateway? It bricked MANY people which used clone cards (Supercard etc.) and even some legit ones. Just google brickway. Gateway and TX are the same people (or at least they work together) so i wouldn't use any product from them.

There was also Payload that bricked people. A user on GBATemp claimed that it was a SXOS Crack. In reality it just f*cked your nand. Brick.
If you are using the official payload (and not some from random users on GBATemp) and do not use software from companys like Gateway or Team Xecuter you are safe. Just use ReiNX and/or Hekate (If you want NSP Backups you have to go with ReiNX)

Both. Everything tears down. But small tiny pins will tear down faster than a piece of sturdy paper clip.

Would it take more than a year before it was worn down to the point that it needed to be replaced, or would it take less time?

Realistically, the R4S is about 3 times as large as the SX Pro. The SX Pro is small enough to fit inside an elastic pouch meant for game carts inside pretty much every switch case
