Personally I don't, I can't tell if that's because of my sudden disposable income, or because of how well Nintendo has it this time around though.
I really don't see the benefit of pirate on the Switch if you can't go online.
Especially as most good games on the switch are Online ones, like Fortnite (Debatable), Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8, Rocket League, e.t.c

Thing is, I only bought a switch for its Nintendo 1st Party Titles, I have -100% interest in Indies (You cant even pay me to waste my time on one) and the only games of Nintendo's I have interest in are mainly Multiplayer ones.

Since my Switch was recently banned, i've literally been debating selling it for €200 (of course telling the buyer its banned) and buying a whole new switch.
And to be honest, I don't think i'll even bother hacking it.
At this point, I see 0 reason too.

Im not saying hacking a console is only good for pirating games (A huge example of this being incorrect, is the 3DS's Hacked Ability to stream/record for 100% free, wirelessly)
But what I am saying, is right now I see nothing useful in terms of Homebrew that can come for the switch, we can already record, and yeah ok, Save Exporting is the ONLY thing that would make me want to hack it...

My opinions, dont h8 m8 l8r

The games I play are usually offline, but the online ones I do have are really fun. So thats why I dont use CFW (for now), or pirate games.

Debatable indeed.
Yeah like I can get behind an offline game but its too tedious managing between plane mode and shit, even still, that probably wouldnt defend you from a ban, cause like, logs are stored and sent once you go online.
So if you pirate games in plane mode, and then go back into OFW and turn off plane mode for online, basically expect a ban. This makes it basically you having to own 2 switches, 1 online, 1 offline forever or just expect a ban.
Sucks but to be fair, support devs...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And even if you use plane mode to protect from a ban, whats the point then? You basically banned yourself on your own terms denying yourself from Online Services... Man I dont get ppl

Yeah, Nintendo have really stepped up from the 3DS.
At least they can get some extra profit from people buying second Switches :P

To each his own I guess, personally for me who has been gaming since the 90's I'm already used to gaming offline and since nintendo is going to start charging next month they're just even making it easier for me to just stay offline. Besides that I already have my ps4 and pc if I do decide eventually to go online.

Thats true, the pay thing kinda punts a dent in it for me

My main issue rn that makes me wanna buy a new switch is the fact that I bought tons of games on my eshop (my actual account isnt banned).
So idk 50/50 on wether ill buy a new switch or not.

That's the same for me. Paying to go online is a big no for me. I bought already the game, so online features should be included...
I don't even have that much time to play all those games either.
I'll only play the game if the story is nice or if you have coop mode (on one switch, like Mario Kart) to play with friends.

eshop is nice, but I only buy cart games for the reason to sell/gift them later or use it on other switches (if there is a cart of this game obviously).

Honestly speaking, I still do (Please don't burn me at the stake). The reason I bought the switch is so I can play AAA games on the go (Zelda, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Diablo, etc.). If I want to play games that needs an internet connection, I go to my PS4. I can enjoy games like MK8, Overcooked, etc at home with my wife and friends so that's an extra reason not to play online with the switch. Another one is I don't wanna pay for the switch's online access since I'm already paying PS+.

I also really like the multiplayer games like splatoon and mk8d. I am saving up for smash, so I wasn't able to buy many games. Then I hacked and downloaded the games I always wanted to play-zelda,12switch,arms- they are really great with friends.
I will restore my nand when smash comes out, hope nintendo ninjas don't strike me with that ban katana.
Why do the ban if they want our money

Was this just an elaborate way of saying "does anybody want to buy a banned switch for 200 euros"?

There is not a single company in the world, that could persuade me to pay for online multiplayer. With that in mind, I only play offline or local multiplayer games on the Switch, like Minecraft, MK8D and so on. Nintendo, COME AT ME BRO.

I believe Nintendo is somehow encouraging people to hack their device.
Overpriced games? Lack of basic (free) features like save game management, web browser, youtube, media player (I know one could have those with a decent phone but still!).
The Switch has so much potential and in terms of homebrew it is growing day after day. Let's just give it time.

I see and use my Switch mainly, even almost exclusively, as a handheld console and therefore offline, I only need online features to get to the eshop to check for new rleases or sales. Nintendo online is pretty much useless for me.

Piracy, for me, is a tool. A tool to try and play a lot of games that I otherwise might not. AAA titles as well. Imagine how bummed I would have been if I bought BOTW only to realize I really do not enjoy it? And if I like a game, I look out for sales of it and might eventually buy it.

I would just wait it out another half a year. Even banned units will go up in price when the hardware revised units go on sale. Plus you'll probably get a lighter, less energy consuming, less hotter switch if you wait to buy a second one when the mariko's hit the market. Just keep it since it will go up in price when mariko hits the market

There are the options to backup and restore clean NAND. You could also take it offline until such a time as things are figured out and rejoin online if you reckon such a notion has value.

Also
or because of how well Nintendo has it this time around though.
What? It was not there from the start, what little we have seen has hardly been awe inspiring and they now want people to pay for things which have been free for decades and in times where bandwidth and server resources cost far far more... that is far from good.

I got my Switch for portability, local multiplayer and CFW. I have 0 interest in multiplayer gaming, I don't even pay for PS+ or Xbox live it means that little to me. I'm certainly not paying for a multiplayer experience that was free for the last 18 months, with save backups held to ransom.

The only thing that bothers me about being banned is I can't access the eshop, and as a result I can't even buy a game now digitally even if I wanted to. If it wasn't for the eshop not working I wouldn't have even known I was banned in the first place.

I have kids, the ability to put whichever games I want on the console is invaluable. I'm certainly not paying £50 each time they want to play a game only to be bored by it 10 minutes later. I also enjoy being able to play games that I would never have risked paying for, even if generally it is only for a couple of hours.

I also like emulation, especially the 4 player arcade games from 20 years ago. And games like Monster Hunter that drop nearly 2 weeks before an official release. For me personally CFW far out weighs the handful of titles that are actually worth playing online.
