Xbox All Access announced, lets you pay monthly for an Xbox console bundle

IMG_0689.JPG

Microsoft is continuing to heavily market their "games as a service" plan, with the success of their Game Pass service. The company has furthered this idea by recently announcing Xbox All Access, which will allow for consumers to pay a monthly fee for an Xbox One bundle that comes with Xbox Live and Game Pass as well. Instead of paying upfront, you'll instead pay $21.99 a month for an Xbox One S, or $34.99 for the more powerful Xbox One X, both of which include the aforementioned Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. You pay this fee for a contract of 24 months, after which you get to keep the system for no interest, assuming you made all your payments on time. After combining all the payments, customers will pay just a little bit more than they would have by buying two years of Game Pass and Xbox Live alongside a console, however, the bonus to this deal is that you do not have to come up with all of the cost at once.

Currently, this appears to be a limited time plan, and only available to those in the United States at this time. You'll also need to visit a physical Microsoft Store to actually sign up for Xbox All Access.

I can see the appeal to this subscription approach to games consoles, but I don't see myself buying into something like this in the near future. Something about the car-dealership-like approach to selling games consoles rubs me the wrong way, for whatever reason. It's probably more an irrational inclination than anything else, but still.

Smart idea tbh. It makes an expensive console like the XboneX a lot more tangible for a lot of people, which is nice. A lot more people can handle $35 a month as opposed to several hundred upfront.

Accessibility over your competitors is always a smart move.

THE FORMULA IS for a Xbox1 X:

34.99€x24 months=839,76-100€(2 years xbox live gold subs)-499 (costs of Xbox 1 X)/24 months=10,03 per month! which is costs of all games u can play!

wow, THIS IS A SUCH GREATEST DEAL EVER! I would sub immediately if it's already available in EU!

Honestly it's tempting, for the Xbox One X. With all the games you get through Game Pass, you get a lot right out of the box. You only pay a little more than you would if you bought it all at once normally, so it makes purchasing such a powerful and expensive console a lot more easier to do.

Soo...AKA credit? GG Microsoft, 10/10 thinking never before seen ;O;

But really, that's actually a pretty ok way to do something like this. I can't pay $500 for an Xbox One X right now, but I could totally pay $35 a month for a couple years no problem. Though, quite frankly, I wouldn't want to be locked into a two year contract for something like this myself. If MS offered variable rates for variable time frames I might think about looking into this, they could jump the price up for the XbonerX to like $55 a month for 1 year which is still fairly reasonable for this.

This is actually cheaper than if you bought either one at full MSRP all at once.

Xbox One X - $500
2 Years Live - $120
2 years Game Pass - $240

Which altogether is $860

35*24 = $840.

Xbox One S - $229 (for 500GB, listed straight from MS)
2 years Live - $120
2 years Game Pass - $240

Which is $589 all together.

22*24 = $528

If you buy a 1TB Xbox One S, the total cost is $660, so still much cheaper.

EDIT: Obviously, not counting future price drops and such

But if you use the service for long enough to pay more for the console than you would have upfront can you own the hardware, that was the question.

If you wait for Black Friday, there will probably be some decent deals unless you're desperate.

Makes me wonder what their plans are for the Xbox RAND(), since something like this could potentially be popular near launch at full price similar to a phone contract.

800+ for the XBX... no thanks xD it's like a coupon trap.. You don't need to buy that but since you get a coupon then you bite.

I would do this with just the console... or if there was any advantages like saving $200 in the long run.
