Well fuck Nintendo then, I'll jump trough some hoops if I get CDN banned for the system updates. The game updates and DLC are easy money though.

FOR NOW. But you have to remember one thing: The DLC and game updates that you can download on certain sites? They all come from CDNSP. And if CDNSP becomes completely unusable...

Then they will switch to dumping DLC and game updates from a real Switch and uploading those instead, no different than how it was done on the 3DS before CDN downloading existed. And then there will be playloads that just dump DLC/game updates/system updates without booting into the Switch OS or changing anything that could be detected, assuming that is not possible already).

Things just become less convenient but not impossible. People will just return to downloading from rom sites or rather, forums which post links to third party file uploads. It takes a single legit purchase of software to rip the .nsp or .xci.

Provided people are willing to do that. Because although those sites DO exist already(I know of a HUGE repository of them), they all come from CDNSP. Only time will tell i suppose

Before CDNSP people just ripped their games. With recent tools, such as converters, it will just continue without much issue. This is nothing new. Same as before FreeShop on 3DS.

Normal people shouldn't even care as scene groups (BBB) buy fucked up consoles rip the cert and download as much content as they can anyways, this is no different from the 360 with unbanned KV's dying in 30 minutes to 3 hours of usage.

I can't believe people are annoyed at not getting something for free. :) I don't blame them for clamping down on this. What did you expect? God forbid people will have to pay for games now and use CFW for homebrew and retro!
Because Nintendo showed them they were wrong?

People will have to be very careful with firmware downloads, make sure you get them from a very trusted source.

Guess we'll just have to stick to dumped nsps now. Props to Nintendo for at least improving. I need to buy a second switch though before they go full nuclear

It has been a while since I read the CDN breakdown and subsequent. 2 days seems kind of long. If they are that hard on things surely they would just download 3 or 4 unique games or do something unique and from a known IP (I assume the CDN tools don't go out through TOR or anything) and note the cert used.

Do we not have the Nintendo public keys? Even if there were not hashes able to be posted to trusted sites surely they would be able to be used to verify along with games themselves. Also do you expect dodgy firmwares to happen? I am not sure I have seen anything like that before for any previous device despite ample opportunity to do it.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
