I'm actually not having this problem, the fix around this was redownloading every game on eshop or installing games using wup installer. The problem is, I have over 100 Wii U games now. All works fine and all but what if my Wii U breaks? My last Wii U had a hardware issue that had nothing to do with bricking. So has there been any fix to this yet? Or do I have do redownload every single game again on a new Wii U?

3 of my Wii U broke due to hardware problem .error code 160-1400.
which to this date still has no answer to what causes it and no fix around it. only 1 person manage to fix it. It's Black screen of death on Wii U. Idk why not many talks about it but a few did on gbatemp.
The error also says ''problem when disk drive'' replacing disc drive doesn't fix this either.
there's no way to ''just don't break it''
Ninetndo fixed mine so I probably wont get it ever again.

Now you said it. Then there is no way to "just don't break it" then. I had Wii for a loooooong time and never had a problem. Unfortunately, I dont have Wii U because I learned my lesson about Wii so I dont wanted Wii U anyway.

Say that to the people who also had my problem who also posted on gbatemp. Also it's Wii U not Wii. Also Wii was actually more stronger than the Wii U. My first Wii U lasted for 3 years then while playing Nintendon't, my game crashed. I went to sleep and when i woke up and turn the Wii U on, black screen of death 160 1400. 2nd Wii U was given to me by a friend. It came free with Smash Wii U lol amazing. But it was also an old Wii U. about 3 years old. It lasted 6 months. I was playing smash bros with mods and it crashed. went to sleep and woke up, black screen of death 160 1400. So i thought crashing Wii U and force shut down breaks the Wii U. I thought this for a long while. My third Wii U (used 2 years old) broke while i was playing Pokken online. It's pokken from E shop so i didn't wup install it. So I wasn't hacking or doing anything bad. During a match BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH 160 1400. In the middle of a match and no crash this time. I complained to Nintendo and they gave me a new Wii U with the error code fixed. I have 2 theories. 1 Wii U don't last long after 3-4 years after everyday use using a Hard Drive. 2 Bad environment, no space for Wii U fan etc. These are my guesses.

I guess you could try this :
Code:
Here's how to work around the 160-1400 error on your own:

Power down your console with the front power button.

Unplug your console.

Leave it unplugged for 1 minute.

Plug your console back in (without turning it on).

Put a WIIU game disk in to turn the console on (Use a game disk you won't mind getting stuck just in case).

Wait for the game disk to be taken in, and the error to show up again.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 (Your console should now be back in stand-by mode). Note: the next two steps must be done quickly.

Turn the console on using the game-pad power button.

Use the game-pad boot up menu to navigate to the Wii U main menu as quickly as possible.

Eureka! Your console should now boot to the Wii U main menu!

You have also this to try to boot straigh to system setting :
Code:
With the entire system shut off, push the power button on the game pad and then immediately hold down A, B, start, and the up button on the directional pad. If it works, it will boot to system setting, once exiting system setting, it will ask you which user you wanna use.

The wii original had a power surge issue.. If you lost power to your home.. It would not turn on anymore... Unless you did a trick with the power cord.. & a bit of timing... I found it on YouTube years ago.. When I thought mine died... & it worked out perfectly....
