Super Mario Party gets new game mode called River Survival

Nintendo of America's Treehouse branch has showcased a new feature for the upcoming Mario Party game for the Nintendo Switch; Super Mario Party. A new game mode, River Survival, will be introduced, which lets four players join together in a co-op campaign where they have to take part in special mini-games. You have a time limit set, and you need to team up with your friends in order to complete as many mini-games together as possible. Players will need to sync up to control a raft together in order to reach balloons, which will start a random mini-game, while obstacles along the river will have to be avoided in order to get the most points possible. Super Mario Party will be out in North America and Europe on October 5th.

It seems like they're at least trying to make this Mario Party better than the previous ones, but after being burned by all the trash ones on the Wii/3DS, I'm a little wary. It looked great going off what I saw at E3, though.

The guy on the right is adorable. And the woman on the left was my favorite moderator in the tree house event.

But back on topic: The mini games look so simple in this one. Maybe a bit more of a challenge would be nice?

I hope they add one feature people have been asking since the Wii. Online multiplayer!

Considering that the launch of Nintendo's online service is pretty close to this game's release, you'd think they would have capitalised on that since people would pay mad bucks for it.

I think it does have one online mode where you can play minigames, but not a full board game mode.

Anyway, this looks adorable, can't wait to play with flatmates!

Players who our not doing well might opt out from a lengthy board match. But you could easily punish this behavior (e.g. by counting it as 2 lost games instead of 1).

Is it just me or is this gamemode super boring? I really don't see the challenge when theres pretty much plenty time left and its no real hassle to reach the goal. The Mini games are also easy af. Pretty boring mode, but it's probably intended for younger kids.
