I have a system that is barely over the minimum requirements for MH:World, so I decided to do some tests to see how far off those are from what you REALLY need to run it!
Minimum Requirements supposedly need a system with a minimum of a AMD FX6300 and R7 260x 2GB with 8GBs of RAM, while what I have is FX6350 (stock speeds), R7 265x 2GB (overclockable but running at stock speeds for the testing) and only 4GBs of RAM. Basically my CPU and GPU are exactly one version up from the minimum listed.
I started running it on low settings then changed them bit by bit. Now, at low settings, the game is still indeed VERY CPU demanding, making my CPU usage jump up to about 90% usage most of the time but never hit higher than 97% and that was during a moment with a lot going on. However, GPU wise, it REALLY doesn't need anywhere close performance as much as stated, as I could EASILY run it at 60FPS with no framedrops and with uncapped it was about 82FPS during hunts, which is not half bad. That means that even considerably weaker GPUs can run it (perhaps something at the level of HD7700 or even lower) perfectly at low if you go for 30FPS cap. Also, raising any graphical options that aren't CPU intensive and instead rely on GPU processing, can be easily be turned up to medium or even high for cards like that one I used without significant drawbacks except VERY rare dips to 58FPS. Overclocking the GPU could even let you play at max settings (excluding the CPU intensive ones) easily at 60FPS as it's apparently incredibly well optimized. Finally, for RAM, it actually takes ONLY an average of 1930MBs, so even a 4GB RAM can work great without any issues and even DDR3 4GB RAMs like the one I'm using have no trouble with the game at all, even if you have something like FRAPS running/recording at the same time.
Before I finish, I played the game from an HDD drive with a decent 7200RPM and the loading screens were still really short, so SSDs will probably make loading screens take about a second at most, which is impressive compared to the PS4/XBox One versions that had loading screens that could take up to a minute at times!
tl;dr: Game in INCREDIBLY well optimized and while the CPU does need to be at least at the level to not encounter any issues, the GPU listed for absolute lowest settings is an exaggeration, you can pump those settings to even medium or high for some on the "minimum" GPUs listed easily, especially with overclock. Also, you only need 2GBs of RAM to run the game, so even 4GB RAM systems have no issue.
I wrote all this just for the people still wondering whether they can run it, if you are at same CPU level and roughly same GPU or slightly lower, you can still play it just fine, at even 60FPS.
