I am looking to buy a dongle similar to the SX Pro, but ideally something cheaper. I have seen a lot of people talk about the NS-Atmosphere and the new r4s seems to be coming our soon, but I want to know what is the best, cheap dongle to get.

SX Pro.

Best cheap dongle.

Arguably the best. Absolutely not the cheapest. Probably the most expensive.

This isn't answering OP's question.

I ordered an NS-Atmosphere. With the first time buyer coupon it was ten bucks with free shipping. I'm in Japan so I should get it pretty soon. I'll write a quick review when it comes in.

What if the capacitors died?
You just plug it into the console and it will recharge.
If by "die" you mean they pop, which is high unlikely, you can just replace them with new ones, if you got soldering skill (not much, is an easy task).
I've bought SX OS, but not the SX PRO.
I'm currently deploying by android phone, while i wait for my SAMD21 and other components to arrive so i can test my own dongle, supercapacitor powered aswell, but smaller.

First of all, yes.
Second, no need to be rude.
Third i've expanded my answer.
Fourth, SX PRO can recharge the built in super cap via usb, if the switch is turned on.
i didn't meant to be rude at all, i just told him if what if the capsitores died, and yes, they are likely to die because of the supercapsitores type they are using, you can hear the hissing noise when they are charging, not anyone can solder new one.

the hissing noise is normal btw, but battery is always better.

i have the SX Pro and i am happy with it, but i am buying extra dongle that use battery just for backup in case of anything happens.

Sorry bout that, it appared like it.
Anyway, the hissing shouldnt be much of a problem, and capacitors are much more reliable than lion batteries. The hissing can be caused by lot of things, i dont own a PRO so i cant diagnose it, but i'd point its the inductor. From what i know (that may be wrong) they are using 2.7V 0.4F caps, 2 of them in series (or perhaps in parallel? i dont know what ic they use, but the SAMD21 can work with even 2.5v so it can tecnically be in parallel to increase C, but in series to increse the voltage would make much more sense, since that would allow them to safelly charge from usb).

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sorry for double post, but i had 2 2.7V 1.5F super cap laying around, and since my trinket m0 (which i will be using till the components arrive) just got delivered, i've tried testing for it.
The stock program (RGB cycle on the LED) and without removing the power LED, with the 2 capacitors in series, charged at 3.8V with a 18650 cell, can power the trinket for about 1:47 minutes which is damn impressive.

Yeah caps just have long life. Caps are on hvac fans, compressor engines and everything for that initial start up jolt. Even after years of heavy use they rarely fail. It’s worth it just to have a solid piece of equipment to use for years and not have to worry. Plus you get sx os that’s easy to use.

For those trying to make a 'fashion statement', the DragonInjector, that's almost out, looks the best. $23 + shipping. If I were to spend over $20, that'd be the 1.

Then, there are the $20 or less dongles. Personally, I like how the R4S dongle build looks and I think the price ($20 in USD) is decent. Haven't seen reviews, yet. There's a reseller list on the page.

Also, there's this https://gbatemp.net/threads/fusee-lede-dongle-6-payload-injector.508750/ if you have the patience for that. There's 1 with a battery for around $10 or so.

And there's this blue one from a few sellers https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-RCM-Cl...ip-Connector-Disk-for-Switch-Pro/132755762335

I've ordered the NS-Atmosphere too. Looks like mine will be arriving much sooner than I was expecting. So I'll be testing it out and sharing my thoughts on it real soon, by the end of next week probably.
Hopefully some people will find my analysis helpful in making their decision on which one to go for.

If you're curious, I bought mine from BitFunx on aliexpress:

I thought I saw a dongle a while back that had a slot to put the jig. Thought it was a great idea and I was going to buy it as a backup to my sx pro. Now I dont seem to see any like that...

Yeah but the store doesn't look as good, has slightly lower feedback and there's only 9 orders made, compared to.
I mean I've already bought mine but even so, for the sake of 88p is it worth risking a less reputable store? I mean I know it's a younger store but still.

I don't know how long that free delivery will take from that store, but gotta say for 80p I'm impressed that my dongle is already in my country.
I only ordered it about 4 days ago, even though it says 20-40 days for delivery, maybe I just got lucky but I'd definitely say the little extra for postage is worth it.

Not that it matters much, just I always check out the store feedback and order quantity before I buy anything on aliexpress. But that's just me, to each their own.

There was a blue one a while ago, maybe that's what you are thinking of. It was twice the price though compared to the black one.
But the one being mentioned just now, the ns-atmosphere, it has a slot in the back for the jig. You can see it in the images on the store page https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bit...837.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.71224c4dzuXZqA
