I recently bought the Switch and SX PRO.
To be honest, I downloaded a couple of games and played but none of them really got me way to excited, not ever Mario.

What I lack is the option to play with others and I'm looking forward to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

However, have I completely destroyed my options to play online now? I've installed a few nsp files but always had the switch in airplane mode.
I also did a NAND backup before pirating anything.

Is it possible to erase everything and go back and play legally or is it just waste of money?
I'm just disappointed that Nintendo won't have dedicated servers for their PAID online service. I remember trying to play Smash 4 online a couple of times and the input delay was horrible even if my internet connection is 100mbit down and 10mbit up.

Any advice?

One option is going to be restoring that NAND backup before going online. If you even want to think about using EmuNAND, you will need at least one clean hack-free NAND which can only be done using the option previously stated. Your alternative is to buy a second Switch. There is a third, but extremely theoretical, last option. You can stay offline until the community devises a better way of removing traces of hacking without the need for a clean NAND backup but no one knows how long it would take assuming it is even possible in the first place.

I thought I was playing it extremely safe with both my modded switches but the moment I went online with original firmware bang both banned

I'm pretty sure the only way to get the best of both worlds is as Drax says. A clean nand dump before you do anything involving cfw and then you will need to restore each time you want to go from offline with backups to online and it isn't quick. Having an sd card for each makes it more convenient but you are still looking a while (I'd imagine u3 sd cards would reduce this time but they are damn expensive for high capacity cards to the point you might just pickup a second switch console (a second hand one without a dock is fine).

basically:
1. tegra rcm gui/smash ->hekate -dump nand (back this up for clean switch and online play.)
2. Use your cfw of choice for backups and homebrew
3. When you want to go online dump your homebrew version nand or transfer saves then restore your step one dump.
4. repeat step 2 and restore saves or restore your homebrew nand for backups.

It isn't hard just slow so really only suitable if you dont want to switch back and forth all the time (weekend for online multiplayer, weekdays for single player/local multi would be my limit). Ideally you have a hacked switch and a clean one. I'm waiting on a refresh (switch mini?) or maybe a nice limited edition for my clean switch.

I glad I did a backup before using SX PRO then. I'll probably go back for online play when certain games are released etc.

Yeah I'll play smash and the pokemon yellow remake. I'm pretty sure thats it for new releases I care about until 2019 and who knows what the scene will look like then.
