+ Added: Option to make an injection with the new Virtual Console (that one which has no savestates and supports Link Cable if you have the correct game patches for that). Thanks to @Traiver.
this is probably what I need to test some pokemon translations, but what mean by patches? the rom need to have any change for this to work?

The patch is separate from the ROM, itself. It puts code into the game that the virtual console emulator uses to know when and how to start wireless functions to enable linking functionality.

Unfortunately, the patch file is unique for each game and can’t be generated automatically.

well, for pokemon games hacks, and translation should not be very diferent from the original games? well I can give a look later ...

It might work, depending on how the patch is written. What you could do is get an official copy of the game your translation is based on. You could then unpack the .cia to find the patch Nintendo used or use Luma’s game patching feature to load your translation with the official title, and see if it works.

I having a hard time to colour in gameboy games.
I try to inject gameboy games (Kirby's dream land 2, wario land 1 and donkey kong),
but I want to play them in colour instead of the boring greyscale/green.

If I watch videos of those games it seems they all have already embedded gbc colours.

Gameboy Donkey kong (1994):


Wario land (1) Super mario land 3:


Kirby's Dreamland 2:



What I try to achieve is to play those game (cia injected / no homebrew forwarder) in there gbc enhanced colour profile.
I know I can modify the VC palettes schemes but when I edit the palettes myself, the games always seems a bit off. I am bad with palette schemes.
Is there a way to inject the game with their gbc or SGB (however I know SGB is completely different) enhanced mode activated, instead of scheme editing?

Can someone share .isp patches for those games to force the gbc enhanced mode?
Or does anyone get some good looking scheme palettes that are very close to gbc enhanced mode?

I just want to play those games in colours (and looking good).

Use the GBC injector. Using the GB injector runs the rom in classic Gameboy mode and not Gameboy Color

I already tried that. That looked like the most obvious thing to try. However that won't work.
It just the same expect the frame in pixel perfect mode is a gbc instead of the classic gameboy.
It also removes the L+R+Y feature.

Trying to inject Donkey Kong using this, and it was able to identify the game on it's own and auto-fill in fields for the banner. But the text for the banner is cut off, and doesn't display properly. I figured it might be an app thing, but when I installed the final CIA it looked that way, too.

Hi there, @Asdolo .

there is an error popping up, when i'm trying to use the latest Ultimate GB VC Injector v1.2. When i click "finish" the process, it says it can't find the "vc_rom.bin" file in a temporary folder. Made a screenshot, parts are in german, but i hope you will get the gist from it. It's some sort of "exception error" and if i click "continue to ignore the error" the VC Injector just stays still. Should mention the older versions work, but i was interested in the new functions of v1.2.

I know it's a bit much to ask, but that's all i look for on GB/GBC emulators since that's how i first played the console on emulators back in 2003 or so. Anyways, great work. Did thisend up being merged into the e universal injector? or it's a different project completely?

This injector is really old, use ultimate injector instead, it might have what your looking for.

Would you be interested in playing Pokemon Blue DX colorized romhack?
Edit - In mGBA, you can disable SGB border by going to Configure → Enable SGB borders: Off

Edit - In mGBA, you can disable SGB border by going to Configure → Enable SGB borders: Off

mGBA works super slow on O3DS so that's not an option for me (even gameboy titles stutter sometimes and it's not worth it for the borders, although i tested it and it does what i said i want)
the romhack is neat, i might try it. But it's not the original game, and the border issue is still there.
The Universal injector i already use. as far as i've seen there is no border option on gb/gbc games, is it? nonetheless it's a great application and the only way to play GBA on O3DS properly.

i guess i can live without the borders, and i have emulation for gb, gbc, gba, nds, snes and sega genesis. I can't ask for much more

Hi there

This program mentions VC patches that would allow the link cable functions. I've done googling and cannot find these VC patches for Red, Blue and Yellow anywhere. Can anyone help?
