I have 2 switches, One thats banned (SX OS) and the other is clean, (and I intend to keep it that way). However there are some game saves from my clean switch that I want to transfer to my modded switch. I know I can do so using checkpoint but, I was wondering if anyone has gotten banned from just backing up game saves? If you have or haven't please list what you did!! Thank you all!

There's a thread for this in case you weren't aware: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub-warning.508710/

Anyways, to answer your question, no one has been banned JUST for using save dumping homebrew. About the only pure homebrew only ban was due to using a GBA emulator and clearing error logs on 5.X, the latter of which is unsafe, so you should be good to go. If you're super paranoid, make a clean NAND backup before hacking and restore it prior to going online. This is much safer than connecting online after using a save dumper homebrew.

Sounds good, But doesn't hektate auto clear logs? I heard that clearing logs is bad and I also heard hektate auto clears them so been kinda worried about using hektate

No it doesn't. It's a module that clears them.
You shouldn't use it anuways now that we got a custom creport the thing that write those crashes to nand, customized to write to sd)

Just use the latest sd files.

nx dreport isn't safe to use ( and is officially deprecated now).
Alright, thanks I appricate your help. I might try backing up my nand and dumping the saves and then restoring the nand afterwards im done before going back online. Also gonna remove internet settings just in case. Thanks for your help and thanks Draxzelex!

Hekate doesn't do anything you don't want it to do.
The only things it does automatically are:
  • prevent the fuse burning behavior of the default bootloader
  • patch out fuse checks (so that you can boot firmwares below what your fuses should allow)
Hekate is probably the safest payload you can run (along with stuff like biskeydump), they don't do anything on the eMMC and thus leave no traces in the NAND of having ran. It doesn't even require an SD card to be injected as a payload.

Personally, first thing I did with my brand new Switch is that I injected it with an empty exFAT micro SD, dumped my Boot0/1, SYS, and rawnand (then got my biskeys from the QR code shown by biskeydump).

Never even bothered with any SD files packs, just 2 bin files: hekate_ctcaer_3.2.bin and biskeydumpv6.bin
Then boot.dat for SX OS along with the dongle.

Hey @TimeMaster , can you point me to a tutorial or can you tell me the steps you took to transfer the saves from the banned switch to the clean one?

I tried using the search for a tutorial but most threads diverted to HOW someone was
Going to run the CFW.

Don’t really need to know about what cfw or anything like that, but once you backed up the save, on the clean one, did you have to play the game and create a save file before restoring? And did you have to do anything to both microSd’s (banned/clean)?

Thanks in advance
