I have been tirelessly trying to figure this out for the past 2 years, but I feel like I'm at a dead end. This problem all started in 2010 when my first Wii's CD drive stropped working and wouldn't receive or read discs. At the time, my Wii was homebrewed, but I only used it to use in-game cheat codes for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Animal Crossing: City Folk. There is no doubt that my CD drive failing was a physical issue not related to the Homebrew Channel. I deleted the Homebrew Channel before sending it to Nintendo to get it repaired. I received a call from a Nintendo representative who told me that they can not do anything to help me because my Wii had the Homebrew Channel on it and they can not help me because it was probably due to this software that my CD drive didn't work. I believe they asked me if I wanted the Wii thrown away or sent back to me. I asked for it to be shipped back to me. Upon booting the Wii again, I noticed that many of the channels did not function properly. Channels crashed after some time and showed this infamous error message: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/PuI8V5tMcxg/maxresdefault.jpg I was convinced that whoever was working on my Wii saw the Homebrew Channel and decided to make my console less usable than it already was. I purchased another Wii as a result.
I can not launch channels on my Wii for an extended amount of time. The Mii Channel stays open for 10 seconds before I get an error message. I tried to run games from an external hard drive with USBLoaderGX, but I get an error when the game boots. The method I tried for this old Wii works on my newer Wii that was only recently homebrewed. I have to pull the power cable out of the Wii to shut it off each time because holding the power button does nothing. All I want now is to transfer my Wii data to a Wii U that I currently have. I have the latest Wii update, but I am not able to run the Wii Shop Channel. Thankfully, I was able to install a wad for the Wii U Transfer Tool Channel via IOS250 on the WAD Manager, but when I try to run the channel on my old Wii I get an error message which makes using this channel impossible.
What do I need to do in order to allow my Wii to keep channels open long enough to transfer information to the Wii U? Getting my Wii to not crash every game that USBLoaderGX boots would also be helpful. I am willing to provide any additional information you need of me.
