Recently I got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for my switch (FINALLY) and I noticed the game has a hidden LAN play mode that is accessible by holding L&R on the main menu and pressing the left stick. The wireless mode that normally connects multiple switches together with direct wifi turns into a LAN mode where you can connect them together through the same router. (I think) So I was just curious if other games had this feature?

I would assume that this was done in case they continue their trend of Nintendo World Championship Series where they usually involve multiplayer games. It's a guess really but I don't have access to any other games from that contest to know. Also on the same topic, do you think more games will include it? :ninja:

I know its not a secret that hyrule warriors has a co op mode, but you press in the left stick on the character select screen to start it. I though this was bs.

If you had to go there to find it, then I consider it hidden because no where in the game is it made known to the player and it uses a command that you wouldn't know unless you found those links.

is this co-op using two separate systems or the same system like Fire Emblem Warriors?

Not secret at all. Split screen co-op with single game copy.

I dunno about you but i dont go read Nintendo support documents to figure stuff out in a game.... There's no reason it couldn't say it in the menu.
You mean like this?

It's entirely possible that they have protections against this. There are some PC games for example that if the latency is too high from what a normal LAN connection would be, the game would disconnect.

Oh wow, it IS hidden, but Nintendo does have a page describing the feature:
https://en-americas-support.nintend...e-the-lan-play-feature-of-mario-kart-8-deluxe
Yes, that's already been established, but no way explain why it's not just intentionally visible without a command to access it unlike Hyrule warriors where it is intentionally visible. They could have had it SOMEWHERE in the game "To access lan mode, hold these button combinations" or just a simple menu option like everything else, but it's not. It doesn't even say it on the box.
