Well, there are a couple of advantages actually that may please you:
- You're safe from a brick since you're using your SD card as a redNAND (redirection NAND)
- You can have custom applications on your home menu
- There's more access in arm7 (can allow things like running flashcards or using nitrohax as a action replay for you retail cart games)
- Custom splash screen (like luma3DS)
- You can use autoboot functions (from powering on your system and hold a button to launch anything)
- SDNAND is decrypted so if you wanted to port a dsiware or a homebrew application, it can be done easily
- You can replace your home menu with DSiMenu++
- Run region-free dsiware applications
There's probably a lot more but hiyaCFW makes things much easier due to RSA patching and other magic.
