Misc [question] is there any dowside to having a wep connection instead of a wpa2?

It's much less secure to use WEP. WEP can be easily cracked by trivially-acquired software. Why are you thinking of switching? What benefit is there?

Given that this is in the NDS section i assume its so he can use the wifi on his NDS? NDS didn't have WPA2 compatibility did it?

Most routers will allow you to set a secondary network, such as a "guest network" that is either unsecured or hidden. See if your router has that and if it does you can enable/disable it at will.

However, aren't most Nintendo WFC things dead?

oh, thats actually a good idea. and yeah kinda but there are a few with 500 active users.
