So as the thread title states, this is more of a two-part question.

After I cfw my nintendo 2ds xl, where are the games stored? I'm using the r4i gold 3ds+ so I understand that the ds games will be stored on there?
In that case, how about the 3ds games? Are they stored on the system sd card (i.e the 4gb sd card within the system)?

If I'm right, here comes the second part. What size would you recommend for the system sd card and the flashcart sd card? I'm just looking to download cfw and play games only. Roughly what size is each ds and 3ds game on average and how many games would I be able to comfortably put on the sd cards?

Thanks in advance, look forward to hearing from you guys.

3DS games (CIAs) are stored on the microSD card in the "Nintendo 3DS" folder. NDS games are stored on the microSD card and read through R4i Gold Plus.
It's highly suggested to use at least a 16GB min for the 3DS, since 3DS games be as large as 3.8GB.
3DS games very in sizes and it really depends on the styles of games that you like. RPGs for examples tend to be rather large in size and thus require a larger microSD card.

So just to clarify, the Nintendo 3DS folder meaning the SD card that goes straight into the system yes?

In that case, 32gb / 64gb for system, and 16gb for flashcart should be a good size? How about the brand's? Are there any brands that work better / not as well? I heard SanDisk and Kingston are better ones for the flashcart, for example.

The SD card that goes into the system is the one that contains the "Nintendo 3DS" folder
I mean, 32/64 is the recommendation for the 3DS and 16GB for the DS. It's more suggested to stick to known main brands. So SanDisk, Kingston, PNYz Samsung, etc.
