Hardware Should I upgrade 3DS firmware to the latest firmware before hacking?

reading other threads around the forum I know of this site 3ds hacks guide site.

according to it, for the old 3DS (which I have), it seems that 11.8.0 firmware and below are hackable.

I believe the latest firmware is 11.8.0

Right now I am on 11.6.0. should I hack 11.6.0, or should I upgrade to 11.8.0 and hack? I new to this and couldn't find any questions regarding this.

You should not update. Once you are at 11.8 there is no way to go back.

Neither can be "hacked" for free, so it does not really matter. But 11.6 is "safer" (yet you can't go online so...)

that's ok. I never do the online stuff. Not a big gamer, I just bought a 3ds, played a Pokemon game and it sat around for a year or more. I'm just looking to see if I can put to more use.
