I'm on the edge about getting this. I already own an original version for the 360, but actually only played about 10 hours and didn't find myself getting sucked into it as much as other Tales games.

On the other hand, better graphics, new content, as well as on the go thanks to the Switch.... Hmmmm....

I'll be getting this for sure. Still undecided on which platform.
I was originally leaning toward PC, but bamco can't quite grasp what makes a PC game good. So, I'm torn between Xbox One/X and Switch. Hm.

The PS3 version of Vesperia is absolutely one of, if not the, greatest Tales game of all time.
NAY
Perhaps even the greatest game ever. +A+
So long as the port lives up to quality standards, it would be an absolute crime to oneself not to play this game.
My fiancee and I liked Vesperia. Wish they'd give us Xillia 1 & 2. I know it wasn't as well received, but the battle system in those games are without a doubt my favorite.

Did the PS3 version include a way to retry the secret missions for bosses without having to commit to another entire playthrough?

I was feeling the same about it too and also only got around 10hrs gameplay, but now that I think about it, I was so distracted by trying to get the achievements on the XB360 version that I didn't get to enjoy the game properly.

I will definitely be picking this up for Switch. ^^ Hopefully it will engross me enough to finish it this time.

Only interested because of Switch release. I hate sitting at home in the same spot for hours. These games are better on portable devices.

A little sad i'll have to put up with Patty, but i'm still happy we're getting Vesperia on modern consoles. Easily the best Tales game.

I hope they lower the achievement/trophy difficulty. It was insane for the PS3 version.
Was it? I remember it being more time-consuming than outright difficult. There weren't a lot of skill-based achievements, more simple "fill in the whole map/item book/monster book/all save points/etc." type things. Well, there is the speedrun achievement, but that's so loose with its requirements I thought it was basically nothing at all. My first try was 4h24m, and I accidentally wasted a lot of time. >.> The secret missions could probably be considered skill-based, but those can be replayed infinitely. Overall, I'd say I hope they don't touch the trophies as they are right now.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
