So I have SX OS and everything runs fine for the most part, until I tried to run Mario+Rabbids. For some reason it's giving me the forced update screen, meaning the option to start anyway isn't available. Anyone know why?

No, I know, but this usually only happens say when you buy a newly released game and your system isn't in a high enough level. Except my system is in the latest firmware. Either way, why would the game be forcing me to update it... What if you were a person with no internet who bought the game... Get it now?
It's an update for the game, not for the System software...

Ok let me try and break it down, i can not start the game without updating and I'm using SX OS, meaning i can't go online. There is no way to skip the update and start it anyway. I have never seen a game that doesn't let you start up the game without updating unless it is because your system version is too old.

I know this is not a system update!

1. Bans are being reported for ppl who update roms.

2. Most importantly: NO GAME, should MAKE you update in order to play. As i said before, what if you are a person who bought the game and has no internet connection to update it... Your telling me that you bought a game that you can't play??? Furthermore, this is mario + rabbids, not even an online multiplayer focused game.

Just boot into the regular OS and update the game. No one is getting banned for updating games while in the normal OS

What are you talking about? It will say "Insert game" in OFW if you try to click on it when it isn't mounted in CFW. And even if he could update in OFW there's countless people reporting bans that only updated back up games since getting SX OS, so clearly he's in airplane mode to avoid that like a lot of us.

You're basically screwed unless you want to take (an even greater) risk of getting the online ban. I wouldn't do it. Maybe there's a way for .XCI releases in the future to not require the update?

I have this same problem, for me I think it's because my game saves are from a newer version of the game then then the version that's on the XCI

I deleted all updates before but kept my saves... Big mistake

FINALLY someone who understands what I was saying, even though I tried to point it out like 4-5 times lol.

But my bigger question is why this game of all games, this is the first I've ever seen which absolutely MAKES you update it before you can play.

.... You know you can update games without inserting any sort of card.

As long as it had been on your switch at one time or another you can update it anytime you want.

I often go though my list of games check for updates for each of my titles so when I do decide to play some arms or splatoon I already have the latest update and don't have to wait

Enable Wi Fi and update, nobody got banned for updating games, just for doing other things

Thanks for a solid answer! You and the person above are probably spot on. Just realised that i played the game when it came out and had a save. I'm guessing the save is what's making it demanding a higher version. Thanks! Very good to know!
It only requires an update if it had update data and then that data is deleted. It seems you deleted update data for that game.

No games REQUIRE you to update in order to play. That's just not done as it would be useless to people without internet connections.
Its obviously a game that requires download data to start.
