It sounds like you are using high capacity SD card, they come pre formatted using exFat file system possibly with GPT partition table. 3DS can handle only old Fat32 file system with MBR partition Table.
If i am right you will need to format your new SD card with Guiformat tool and allocation unit size = 32k. when that's done copy all your files from old sd card to freshly formatted new one.

The 32,768 refers to 32,768 bytes, which is 32.768 kilobytes or rounded down to 32 KB. Of course, there's doubling of that or 64 KB.

Since you have a 256 GB card, it meets the general size threshold (of 128 GB and above) where it's possible to format it in 64 KB cluster size instead of 32 KB. There's pros and cons to doing this as it doesn't work for everyone due to possible compatibility issues. You can read a test write up about cluster size options in my signature and searched up "256 GB sd card" in previous threads that talks about this point in cluster size.

I think old 3ds don't support a big capacity sd card !
Not true - they simply can't legally advertise 64+ GB card support, as SDXCs must officially have a single partition and be formatted to FAT64/ExFAT according to the SD standards (which the 3DS, in any version or model, doesn't indeed support)

I always tought that 64 gb is the maximum & it's a nintendo statement if i'm not mistaken.
Anyway, i don't see what could you possibly do with such capacity, the bigger sized game is only 3.5 gb & there are only a few, the rest are far less sized.

Make sure its formatted correctly and don't follow YouTube tutorials. I still have shellshock from all the "am I bricked" threads.
