I mean i don't have any access to homebrew nor CFW nor anything else when i think of it. I probably got the worst firmware out here so far today and i'm getting tired of it.

I mean, i've already order'd a SX Pro so should i be worried ? Please help me, i want some homebrew so bad but i can't since i'm stuck with the worst firmware out there...

I would not update, If you really want homebrew now then maybe you want to update to 4.10 the game.
the firmware your on is more exploitable than newer.

Even though none of this will matter once you are running cfw

If you stay on lower firmware you'll be able to install homebrew without hardmods, but if you have already ordered a sx it shouldn't matter. But I'd stay on lower firmware.

If you are planing to get CFW with the SX Pro then yes, update.

If you want to get a hardmodless method to get CFW, homebrew and whatever it comes with it, then stay with 3.0.2.

As of right now you can get the same with any firmware, so it depends if you want to do the jig stuff everytime you boot or not.

If you waited this long what's the point updating now, if you have a SX ordered I assume you're not planning on buying digital games, and you don't yet know if SX will let you play higher FW games on the CFW so you're best waiting to find that out first, then updating if it doesn't.

It wont matter in a couple of weeks. And if you want to update your Switch games jump to 5.0.2, there is already support for CFW for it, just cant play some of the emulators etc, and some of the homebrew isnt updated for it yet but it works. It's really up to you.

Yep definitely going with SX Pro (already buyed like i said.)
So i'm just afraid that Homebrew like emulator not working on 5.X.

If you dont mind the jig stuff every boot then theres no problem. I suppose you could use Emunand for Homebrew/Atmosphere and most app would work for the latest firmware then. Hell, maybe you could use both methods in the same NAND.

Like i said, if you dony mind getting into RCM every boot then theres no reason to stay at 3.0.2. Enjoy your games, online, etc etc.

I think you're right after all. I'm still searching for a way to update it into 4.1.0 without a game (not a chance i guess).

Well, i think i will go in 5.x this night thanks guys it been so long since i wanted to play MK8D online and Splatoon.

Yeah no way to update without a game as of now. Maybe in the future, but not soon (i think).

Dont worry about the apps and stuff. Once Atmosphere or even TX CFW is out we would start to see lots of updates for the latest firmwares.

Enjoy friend, Splatoon 2 is cocaine.

If you're planning on using TX's solution then just enjoy your console and update your FW. More and more homebrews (including emulators) are being ported to 5.0.X and you can't use any of them with your current FW, while also being unable to use the (not forever) free online service.

SX Pro will support all current FWs and presumably all future FWs also because the Tegra Exploit is unpatchable, so If you are already going with the Team Xecutor route, you're safe to update
There still isnt a confirmed entrypoint for 5.0+ so this claim is based on nothing.

OP, if you dont want to RCM every boot, for now do not update.

I think you may be confusing his message. It doesn't matter what FW you're on, you can use any of the upcoming CFW, TX or Atmosphere. Literally, the only reason to stay on a lower firmware is for software entrypoints. And even then, 3.0.1 - 4.x are not guaranteed to get one. The only known one is private.

I know it's only the software entrypoints, but if he waited this long why give those up? Atmosphere will implement Emunand and then you get all the goodies anyway.

Patience....The homebrew is in it's infancy on any FW right now. Give it some time. In the long run when they stop making A buck off this FW/dongle thing u will want to get off of their FW and go to the real CFW that will inevitably pass what TX is doing and it'll be harder to do that when ur on 5.X. I've been in alot of hacking scenes and it's never the guys who are making money off of the stuff who ends up with the best product.

I could care less about RCM mode if you wanna know since i got the little SX thing that help me to do it without any issue + the usb loader.
I mean, it's like 20s every hardboot, not a big issue.

Because 3.0.1 - 4.x is not guaranteed to get any software entry points. As of right now, they're all private, and even if they were going to be released (by those who currently have them), it'll be sometime after the new Switch revisions release. Yeah, he could probably stick around and hope that in some months (or years, who know how long it'll be before those revisions drop) he'll get it because once he has Atmosphere, it won't matter, but he's now restricting what he can do just because he doesn't want to use a jig and computer every so often. I think this is more of a personal matter than it is a "don't do it or you'll lose it" matter.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Then update away. At this moment, there's no software entrypoint.

So the SX or out in the wild now but the big question is for me is still: what advantages has 4.0.1 to 5.1? With the dongle I can load external payloads faster than with a pure software based solution. So that is no reason for me. Did nintendo add anything that could be a problem in the future
