[Update] The new Pokemon rumors (Let's go Eevee/Pikachu)

It's nearing E3 once more, which means rumors at in full force. And with a Pokemon title inevitably on the horizon, Pokemon rumors are flooding news and discussion sites. Once more, we find ourselves questioning what's real or fake.

Back on April Fools, there was a post made on 4chan. Such things from there are always assumed to be a meme or fake post. Based_AF Media also further confirmed the 4chan post, but it should be known that they are a relatively unheard of news site, possibly looking for easy hits.

This "leak" states that the upcoming game would be a Yellow remake, and would have Pokemon Go integration.

Emily Rogers further fueled the fire by hinting at the name of the games potentially having some link to the mobile title Pokemon GO, and that mainline Pokemon and Pokemon Go could benefit from each other.

SoulCalibur V would be out for the Wii U: FALSE
Nintendo would launch a huge quirky shooter for the Wii U: TRUE (Splatoon)
Smash would be on Switch and launch 2018: TRUE
Nintendo and Ubisoft were making a strategy game: TRUE (M & R Kingdom Battle)
Pokemon and Pikmin 4 would launch before March 2018: FALSE
Mother 3 would be ported to the Wii U: FALSE (We did get Earthbound Beginnings though)
Female Link would be playable in BOTW: FALSE
GameCube Virtual Console would be a reveal at E3 2017: FALSE
BOTW would be pushed back for simul Wii U/Switch release: TRUE

Twitter user "Nibel" also Retweeted the image of the supposed logo, giving further credence. Nibel's rumor history includes correctly guessing that there would be a new Insomniac Games Spiderman title, the existence of a PS4 Pro (at the time, codeword Neo), and a Catherine remake for Vita/PS4. Nibel has also claimed that Retro is working on yet another Donkey Kong Country game for the Switch, but this one is still unverified.

Translated, the text in the Logo translates to "Let's Go Pikachu!", once more adding onto the idea of a Pokemon Yellow remake. Even more ridiculously, an image from a few months earlier made its rounds on the internet, showing what appeared to just be a slightly edited image of Sun/Moon. In it...you can see none other than an Eevee perched onto the trainer's head. This corroborates the Let's go Eevee! part of the rumor over at 4chan. Plus the part about Sun/Moons HMs-replaced-by-Pokemon, as well.

Then we have something a bit more vague. Twitter user PixelPar uploaded a video saying he'd been hinting the whole time at this, through little drawings of Pokemon Yellow he'd been doing up to the official announcement of the game.

EDIT:

The day after this was written, an entity has claimed the domain names for both of the game's names. Not only that, but one of Kotaku's lead writers also followed up on the Pokemon Go portion of the rumor:

https://www.whois.com/whois/pokemonletsgopikachu.com

wYyskzf.png

The domain owner has previously registered Pokemon game names in the past, as well. Nintendo isn't mentioned anywhere within the documents, though, which deviates from previous domain registrations, where they've always been named as the owner in some form. And now the Official Pokemon JP site is heavily using both Pikachu and Eevee in marketing.

And, as of right now, that's everything involving this specific rumor. What do you think? Real? Fake? Is this the equivalent of Rayman in Smash once more?

The "leaks" alone will be enough for GF/Nintendo to buy up the domains just incase someone tries to register them, after all it has Pokémon in the name, so trademark protection etc.
Not really. It's not a big issue for them, they can just C&D them if need be.

Yep, not like they've got a history of aggressively purchasing domains to protect the Pokémon trademark...

https://domaininvesting.com/nearly-4000-pokemon-domain-names-registered/

$3-4 cost for a domain name vs the $100s for even their paid legal team to C&D.

[Edit]

Just to clarify, as it may come over wrong. Nintendo have been known to register domains, even if they have no intention of using them, to protect their trademark. The vast majority of the 4k domains have been dropped since but still was there to protect a launch. As the leak is doing the rounds on every major news site I wouldn't be surprised if this was Nintendo protecting their interests no matter what the name of the game is. Does it prove or disprove the existence? No.

Raise your hand if you're a genwunner and are happy to return to Kanto. [emoji137]
i could care less for any gen as long as pokemon go doesnt get involved... im fine with every freaking gen, i would even take a sun an moon remake even tough they are the most disliked generation by me.

To be honest Pokemon switch is going to be a major letdown/disappointment.
The game is getting hyped up so much that it's going to be real hard to satisfy those unrealistic expectations.

I mean... Every Pokemon game in history has been hyped to death....

And what unrealistic expectations? Im sure most of us would be happy with the same shit for the past 20 year but with good graphics and a cool region to explore.

this preety much, the only game that disapointed me alot was sun and moon, they wanted to change the formula but made it far worse, the ysland captains and toten pokemons were much worse than gym leaders, and the ammount of cutscenes can be very annoying.

Debatable, its your opinion.

I liked the captains and totem mons, fresh air and stuff but yeah, i would take gym leaders 10 times out of 10.

Sun/Moon was hyped to death too and was one of the (if not the?) fastest selling Pokemon games of all times so... Pokemon doesnt need to be the best game, its just that big.

Well that's true but the switch unleashed new levels of hype.

As rumors state the graphics will be something between sun and moon and Pokken..

And unrealistic expectations? Like multiple regio's to visit i would like to visit more but i know it's very unlikely we are going to get multiple regions.

I also read things about a new battle system..

The game being better looking than zelda botw.

The game having no border so: ''you can go everywhere the are no limits the game does not let you follow a linear story..''

the game being a kanto game or a kanto reboot or a new regio all.. someone is going to be disappointed anyways :P

I just wish nintendo would develop a little bit more mature pokemon game since the core fans include more adults than children by now :P

you cant have a true open world on level based rpgs, seriously you are on lvl 5 and go to the place of llvl 50 pokemons and throw a pokeball you catch it and now you just brooke the game becuase you will rape everything and by the time you get back to your lvl 50 area you will be overleveled again lol.

open world would just mean easy to destroy gameplay on pokemon really, on most rpgs you cant catch the op enemies if you try to go somewhere to early, but you can on pokemon lol.

Thinking on it more, if this thing has even the stench of Go on it, it full well might be one of those titles where I smile and go "Yup! I pirated it!"

And that's from someone who's not pirated any, fucking ANY, pokemon games (except Moon, I got the leak and played that, while I had it on Pre-order).

Hey i agree with you but i think people mean the exploration part of the game when they yell open world :P. I like to imagine being in the anime and just exploring all these fantasy places and encountering different pokemon there.

This is why both World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls Online and Skyrim have worlds that are scaling with Player Levels.

This can be easily implemented into a Pokemon game. Take all the levels of your Pokemon divide them by the amount of your Pokemon and voilà! (50+45+39+41) / 4 = lv. 44 Enemy +/- 3~5 levels depending on Wild Pokemon/Trainer Pokemon/Gym Leaders

that does not work for pokemon becuase pokemons have base stats.
if you have a lvl 5 squirtle against a lvl 5 heracross you wont win becuase even in lvl 5 heracross has very higher base stats and lvl alone wont matter.

so from the begining to the tougher pokemon areas catch a lvl 8 snorlax and now you brooke the game becuase sure you are on the same level but with his base stats he has much more atack, defenses,hp than any of the noone evolved ones early so yeah still very easy to break the game just go the the stronger areas catch strong base stat pokemons at the same lvl as you and your done.

and again in wow, skyrim, etc, you cant catch the enemy and use it to break the gameplay like you can on pokemon.

That doesn't really make it not work though. You can have evolved Pokemon like Snorlax show up in their previous forms or in case of Heracross not show up at all and be replaced by your Token Bug type Pokemon until your level total reaches a certain point (same goes for Legendaries). Besides, certain areas can be still shut away from the player by Poke Ride, which you'd only get access to after beating Gyms.
Again this system isn't hard to implement. You just have to brain storm for 5 minutes and that's it.
