Great work! Keep it up and please for the dev drama. Help each other and praise each others work. Instead of bashing and insult each other. That does not help!

Be friendly and try to use positive criticism instead of "OMG THIS IS SO BAD". Should instead be "Hey dude nice program. But i see som flaws that you should adress in your next release flaw 1,2,3,4xxxx" Help eachother! We are ALL on the same team!

Does this mean that I can download games the I purchased on the eshop, but can't download because I didn't update to the latest firmware, and move them to my SD card and then play?
that was my initial thought too, still haven't been able to download the splatoon 2 that came bundled with my console.

Maybe SciresM was a little blunt, but he's the foremost expert on how the Switch works. This was probably not obvious to some, but since you're using you're consoles client certificate, it's easy for Nintendo to go back in their logs and ban you at a later time.

Yes, you read this correctly: just using this software on your PC can get your console permanently banned. I would be very surprised if Nintendo did not pick up on this and retroactively ban users for this.

They could for games and DLC yes, but not for patches, since they can't track who actually bought a cartridge and is updating their games. Surprised Nintendo didn't build in a check to see if someone has the game / dlc linked to a Nintendo Account.

Anyway nice little program to get patches in the future.

Yeah, no, definitely. Nintendo isn't tracking anything, in 2018... When everything is tracked, by basically every company.

Just because you like video games, doesn't mean you actually understand technology.

It doesn't matter for what you use it. You need to dump your console's client certificate, which is obviously unique. If they start looking at the requests more closely (and depending on how they log interactions, this could be done retroactively), every client certificate that was used to make bogus requests could be permanently banned. I know most people will ignore this because they're blinded by potential warez, but be prepared to buy a new Switch if you want to play online.

Contrary to what OP says, this is not "100% SAFE".

I doubt they would go there, they wont just match ip addresses with a different device and then ban you for several obvious reasons. I mean sure they could start banning anyone, but they will end up banning innocent users and creating a big stink.

Who's talking about your IP address? This app needs your unique client certificate. This means that it pretends to be your Switch when making requests to Nintendo's CDN. All they need to do is blacklist that client certificate and your Switch is banned forever. I doubt they will check what you actually did, my bet is that they will ban every single client certificate that was at some point used with bogus requests. You can't easily spoof a client certificate and it's doubtful that unbanning will be as easy as it was on 3DS.

I Fully agree with this statement but the sad truth is, without the drama like this they would never get the kind of attention they wanted in the scene. Its the same reason why unbanmii got burnt down on day one before any corrections could be made to the software. It was just easier to attack it rather than try to help, especially when it became open source. But thats just how it goes with popularity i suppose, once you get a taste you will always want more. And when there is an easy way to gain it you will take it time and time again.

@SimonMKWii Could you please just say in the title something like "I am pretty sure it's save to use but use at your own risk" because claiming it to be 100% save is very misleading to common users. Since none can really say if it really is 100% save and it is probably not 100% save since none can predict for sure how Nintendo will act...

In all seriousness any modding at all can get you banned so saying this can will get u banned is moot.

Everyone doing anykind or modding has always been at your own risk.

SciresM said it's unsafe, even with his recent changes. This doesn't even allow you to download warez, only the apps you bought. Calling this "100% SAFE" is not only irresponsible and misleading, now that he was notified about this multiple times, we have to assume he's doing this on purpose.

This is more than the usual - it's very easy for Nintendo to ban every single user of this app with no casualties (you can't just spoof a client certificate). OP made it very easy for them and he's still claiming it's "100% SAFE". This is beyond irresponsible.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said 100% safe, as it's very misleading, but v3 is coming soon and it uses the correct UA header and URL sequence!
I'd classify this release as 50% safe.

Even with the changes made I would hesitate to call it 100% safe - there is always the risk that Nintendo changes some behavior making it detectable again, so making absolute statements should probably be avoided if possible.

I would say 1% safe, for the off-chance that Nintendo is completely braindead. It's easy to make a script that lists all client certificates using bogus requests and just ban them. A script kiddy could do that. You should have a big, red warning in your OP.

I've been using my cert for about 5 months now, nothing.
