I hope it isn't too terrible
a thing to ask about something partially unrelated to the thread, but I really don't know where else to go.

I have a snippet of audio in Japanese that I've been trying to translate for weeks, but with no luck. Could someone please tell me what it's saying? It's only one sentence inside of about 5 seconds audio.

Feel free to delete my post if it's too far off-subject and sorry to have to bug everyone with this. ^^;
there's a translation request subreddit. I'd suggest going there

https://www.reddit.com/r/translation/
https://www.reddit.com/r/translator/
both of these should be what you're looking for

What other projects are you working on, other than Ni No Kuni?

I am only working on Ni No Kuni for ROM translation projects, but what I meant was that there are many projects on GBATemp that could surely use help.

I also have some manga that I translate on another site, but that has been put on the backburner recently because this team is all really focused on finishing Ni No Kuni.

@hmsong do vampire knight DS please xD i'll really grateful if there's a translation for that game
I can't speak for the rest of the team, of course, but I don't think I'll, personally, be taking requests for future projects.

I've joked about this before, but I seriously think this may be my first and final ROM translation. I had no idea what I was getting in to, and at times I have let this take over my life in ways that I probably shouldn't have. I owe my friends, family, and most importantly my husband (THE most patient man in the history of all mankind, I assure you) some time back after their years of support, and I think they might make me sign a blood pact to never do something this big again.

Manga is much easier because it is episodic, and the stuff I work on is not in huge demand so a delay or an early release doesn't really get much attention. Very accomodating. I find the community here is very supportive, but that there are also pressures from myself and others to finish faster and/or to stop being a perfectionist and just release it already (which anyone on the project knows is not what is slowing us down, we just have a desire to do a good job of this especially if it is the only *this* that some of us will ever do).

There are definitely games I have played in Japanese and loved, and would like to see other people enjoy in English, but at the same time there are still so many games in Japanese (and books, and manga, and movies) that I would love to indulge in, myself. I think once this project is done, other than my ongoing manga series, I will probably avoid doing creative work like this and instead take some time to enjoy just consuming the creative work that others have put out in the world. I might come back to ROM translations eventually, but it would require the memories of how much work this has been to fade a bit - not just for me, but for the people around me that put up with my late nights translating and weekends blowing off social events, as well.

As for the project status, we are working some kinks out, retesting recently fixed bugs, and rechecking things just to make sure we've caught most of the issues. We've got a couple big ones to go, but we know what we need to do. Our playtesters are full of energy and enthusiasm, and the team is chugging along getting stuff done.

I hope everyone is having fun with Ni No Kuni 2! I took a bit of a break from the ROM project this past weekend while I was sick with a headcold and just managed to make it to the docks in Hydropolis in Ni No Kuni 2. Maybe I'll even play the first part of the city in a week or two! (>_<)

Happy spring to all, I hope you're all doing well out there in the world! :)

Hmm... too bad that you (err, your team) won't be doing any other projects. I can just tell that this is going to be one fine project.

Having said that, what other Japan only NDS games are good that deserves translation? I mean, other than the ones that have been translated already. I feel like the only deserving games that I know are Tales of Hearts (only first quest was translated while the "save" feature was disabled, hence making the translation useless), and Keroro RPG. I don't know about any others.

I hope you recover from your cold soon (if you didn't recover already).

Thanks! I am getting over the cold, but I think the worst part is in the past. Still sniffle-y, with the occasional cough.

I would love to do the second Chocobo Tales game, or Nora and the Time Studio just because they are cute and different. It wouldn't need to be an NDS game, I just mean I'm probably done with game translation for a while. Ha ha. That said, I know some other people that have helped with the game in the past are also working on visual novels, and I'm pretty sure pleonex is working on other things - he's pretty active in this community.

Also - there was a Keroro RPG? Man, that's another one on my list to look into. Thanks for mentioning it! :)

Yeah, it's a bit similar to Tales of Hearts. There's both good and bad compared to ToP (gameplay-wise). The biggest good is that unlike ToP, Keroro doesn't have that Spir Maze that can instantly kill you. And if you need to know the password to unlock certain items (there's an option eventually), Keroro RPG site has that (it's in Japanese, so I got lost, but I somehow found it).

Second japanese only DS game that I want to see in english after Ni no Kuni is Sigma Harmonics (yeah, there is a guide for it, but I want proper translation), but I dont think that someone will translate it someday(

I just took a look at it, and that one looks interesting. Keroro RPG was mostly in hiragana (and furigana), so I had an easier time understanding things. After all, I only took 6 months of Japanese in college. I shall try Sigma Harmonics with the guide. Anything else? It doesn't have to be RPG or anything. As long as it's good GBA or NDS title, I'm willing to try (ex: Draglade 2, which is a fighting game -- it's alright game).

Just a quick update here - we're still playtesting and figuring out some issues with our patch build that was causing it to have a problem in some situations.

As always, I don't have a release date to commit to, but I just wanted to keep people in the loop that we are still making progress, and still focused on making the whole game experience better for everyone regardless of whether they play on an emulator or a flash cart. :)

Hi,
I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a while, and really look forward to playing your translation when it's done. I loved the ps3 version, and Ni No Kuni 2 is taking significant chunks of my life right now
Just wanted to say thanks for the tremendous effort!

Thanks for the encouragement, folks! We're still making steady progress on most things, but we haven't fixed the issue that is preventing flash carts from working. We know what the issue is, but the right people are a little busy with other fixes at the moment.

Playtesters are currently finding all the typos in the NPC and sidequest text, which I had been ignoring on my personal test runs of the game. No huge rewrites, but little things that certainly improve the text.

As always, don't bother asking about a release date. I promise you'll be the first people (who are not on the team) to know when it goes live. :)
