Not sure which games will required the newer firmwares, but maybe they are the ones I don't like and I was not going to install anyway.

The thing is that yesterday I had Gateway working via WiFi on a 3DSXL v9.2 and today after doing that installation for Luma3DS that seems to have broken that setup, now Gateway doesn't launch at all! :(

I don't know if for going back to where I was yesterday I can just format my SD card, or if I have to do something else to uninstall things from my system?

you cannot just format your SD and go back,
you system is now 11.6 and does not work with gateway without lots of changes that you need to do manually
if you wanted to keep gateway, you should of done more research

hmmm... I managed to install the 1st CIA, 400MB of file took like 5mins or so.

Taking into account that a lot of games were 4GB... not sure if that would take almost 1h of installation per game? Personally, I prefer the Gateway method, where a .3ds could just be read directly without installing...
Large games close to 4GB usually take around 45 min for me.
I assume you already updated to the latest firmware?
If you want to keep your saves from GW, you need to be able to boot into GW mode (GW doesn't support the latest firmware)
What you can do is get a spare SD card and set up an emuNAND on it, perform a 9.0-11.2 ctrtransfer to emuNAND (3Down has ctrtransfer files, you flash them with GodMode9), and follow this to boot Gateway: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/
Then you can use this to get your saves exported to a format that you can import to the CIA versions: https://gbatemp.net/threads/gateway-save-export-helper.465503/
Note that you still need the games in the GW cart to do this.

I didn't do the step to upgrade my firmware though as I just wanted to see how this Luma3DS worked and go back to my previous set up if I didn't like it.

My current firmware reads: "Sys 9.2.0-20E"

I think for now it's fine, I might need to have another look in the future if I find any game that's not supported but I've already got the .3ds files, it's not like I need to get them again. And installing them one by one will take too long, when I already have them working on the gateway by simply copying and pasting

Hello,

i was about to create a new thead where i wanted to ask about Gateway 3ds. But i saw this threat wich kinda helped me allready. I guess im not the only one living in the stone Age for a while.

But i still have a question:

I have a Gateway 3DS Cart and installed something like a CFW (???) on my 3DS wich only works with the Card inserted. It boots to EMUNand. In the settings it says "GW3D 11.6.0-39E".

So should i uninstall everything to make it a stock 3ds again or is there a way to switch from whatever i have to a proper permanent CFW?

What are you trying to achieve? ie, what do you have in mind?

I installed the Luma3DS hack before and I deleted it 'cos with that one it seems just .cia files are supported, all the .3ds files are not usable anymore.

the thing is i dont want to use the Gateway Card anymore. Sometimes my 3ds does not recognise the Card so that its unable to boot.

Well i dont seem to have a pre Fastboot Nand backup anyway. So i guess im stuck at GW3DS i guess?

I am not 100% sure. It all was very long time ago. Either 4.5 or 9.x i guess. Can i check it somehow? I dont know how to go to Sysnand. I chose to boot into Sysnand in GW Menu but it booted into Emunand again

I was checking by choosing to boot in SYSnand from GW menu (B+A buttons), then settings.

Once you know that, you could follow the guides here https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started , mine was 9.2 and it worked fine to install Luma3DS which allowed me to install .cia files

Do not boot into sysNAND with Gateway, it lacks proper protection for your hacks.
Also you are really holding yourself back by continuing to use Gateway. I know I can't make you update, but things aren't going to get easier for you as time goes on.

At the end I did it again and left it with both, Luma3DS installed (so I could use .cia files) and Gateway installed simultaneously with EmuNand in the latest GW 11.6. I can boot in GW mode by pressing a key whilst booting up or not pressing anything and have Luma3DS launched should I need it in the future.

you can use GodMode9 to convert .3ds files into .cia to install via FBI.
Thanks, I didn't know about that tool but having the 3ds files already it seems a little bit waste of time having to convert them to .cia and then wait for them to install (as some of them can even take like ~45mins per game). But I've got Luma3DS in the console now in case I need it going forward.

Thank you guys.

Hmm... man i am a bit confused i got to say.

What i hate the most with GW is the Emunand. Back in the day i used a pretty slow 4GB SD card. And now its splitted into syNAND and emuNAND.

So do i assume right that Luma3DS is a CWF wich is flashed in place of the sysNAND? And if so, how do i manage to do this? Can i just follow those Guides? I checked my sysNand wich is on the good old 4.5.

Now i have a clean 32GB SD Card wich i would love to use to install CIAs. But i really dont know how to switch to a proper CFW.
Sry if i penetrate you guys with these questions but help would be very appreciated.

is most likely where you want to start, aslong as your 3ds is 11.3 or lower

thanks for your help. But i still got to ask something i am really sorry.

The guide shows the Soundhax method. Do i boot to emuNAND to use the soundhax? Or should i boot to sysNAND through the GW menu. And how can i switch to the other clean SD-Card? Since my 3ds only boots with my crappy 4GB Card inserted.

Boot into sysNAND and do everything from there. You should be able to install B9S over the top of the Gateway fastboot installation without an issue.
