PlatinumGames teases "top secret" new game

IMG_7944.PNG

During a panel at Bitsummit 2018, Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba from PlatinumGames got to talk to an audience about some of their recent and upcoming games. Kamiya mentioned Platinum's Wii U exclusive The Wonderful 101, laughing that the game "should be named the Unwonderful 13, as it's worldwide sales was like 13 whole copies". When the audience there was asked if they'd like to see the game get ported to the Nintendo Switch, reception was positive, and the response was that the company would love to bring it to the platform one day.

Also discussed was the upcoming Bayonetta 3, where it was said development was going well. Inaba cited that Platinum has a "bunch" of games in the works right now, including a top secret title that, as quoted, will "turn the action genre on its head". It's also apparently so secret that most developers at PlatinumGames don't even know it exists.

Further information wasn't given, but with E3 next month, we might see our first glimpse at this project then.

I quite like Platinum Games, but for all intents and purposes nearly all of their titles follow the exact same melee brawler blueprint, I just don't see them putting any genre on its head. They should stick to what they do well - last time they didn't it sold 13 copies. That being said, I would probably kill for Infinite Space 2, the exception from the rule above.

Then after a while, a wild pokemon appears and spoils the game by leaking information bigtime. Seriously, all these leaks decreased all the hype gamers feel towards a game.

seriously? a game that only sold 13 copies? is it phisical?
i smell a great oppurtunity to buy it and in 20 years it will be one of those ridicule priced games (hundreds or even thousans of bucks)

edit: it appears wikipedia says they sold more than 5k copies, i suspect they meant the game sold 13k (thousan) copies and not actually "13" ?

I hope you know they were just joking when they said that the game only sold 13 copies. What they meant was that the game didn't sell well.

I loved wonderful 101 myself, of course it was hard to keep an eye on both the wii u gamepad and the main screen at the same time but maybe if they do port it over to the switfch it will be be easier to do it since it's all on one screen don't hate me for loving wonderful 101 lol

To be fair they did give away Wonderful 101 completely free to anyone that bought Mario Kart 8, it was one of a few choices.
