Homebrew hekate Tutorial 4.x.x and 5.x.x

This is a quick how to get Homebrew running on 4.1.0 and 5.0.2.

This is not a hold your hand tutorial more of a general tutorial demonstration.

My usual Camera was not used which is why video quality may not be the best. The switch in the video is on 4.1.0. Tried to show that but the system was attempting to update, oh well believe it cause this is confirmed working by MANY people in the communities along with myself.

This is at your own descretion i am not responsable for softbricked or bricked system. Be careful and take your time.

If all goes well you will have learned something and accomplished homebrew on your switch 4.x.x and 5.x.x.

All the best. Like subscribe and hit that notification icon.

More videos coming soon maybe another tutorial with a better camera that is not in current use.

Go to this website for 4.x.x files:

Go to this website for 5.x.x files:

Website to send payload from android device. (I used my Galaxy S8, some android phones dont work for sending the payload:

https://atlas44.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/web-fusee-launcher/index.html

1. Download needed files

2. Place the needed files on the sd card. (sd card formatted as fat32.) well in your pc.

3. Put prepared sd card in your switch.

4. Plug usb into switch and payload sending device. (From switch to android phone for example Galaxy S8)

5. Power off switch

6.With your switch jigged kind of like how I have it, wire from the heatsink to the 10th pin of the right joy con slot. (On the switch, closest pin to the back on the right side)

7. Hold volume up and power button for a second maybe two. (Screen stays black.

8. Go to .amazonaws.com/web-fusee-launcher/index.html
(Pick file send payload well in rcm on switch, shows as apx)

9. Launch firmware CFW.

10. Wait for switch to boot and click the album icon in your menu.

11. Enjoy Homebrew on 4.x.x and 5.0.0

Again be careful, take your time and this is at your own descretion if you want to do this. I am not responsible this method is used by MANY people.

- "DO NOT use Hekate it slowly damages the SoC, and has resulted in several soft bricks."
- "Hekate has a bunch of problems which slowly damage to SOC"
- "the SoC degrading is such a slow thing that using it a few times for testing is not going to cause any permanent issues. My point ... is people who are using this daily will have issues".

Edit: ignore, it's apparently safe to use: https://twitter.com/naehrwert/status/994727556262780929

No one knows for sure how this damages 100 percent for sure. You should not just tell people not to use it. Advise people on what to be aware of not specifically saying DO NOT USE THIS. That is too much of a scare tactic.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And when I say no one knows 100 percent I am referring to maybe the life of the switch degrades by an hour, maybe a day, maybe two months or a year. Maybe it doesn't degrade to a point of actually shortening the life span of the average switch. That's what I was getting at. Yes there is risk with ANY method, even a finale method or official method.

how in the hell is software causing degradation to the SoC? is it making the cpu run at a high load?

Actually the fan runs slower and the system seems cooler so I would say it's not overclocking in a way of creating excess heat. It's hard to say but I'm on both sides so I say be careful like anything but come on it would be like saying do not modify your car in any way it might cause a problem. Don't use the official method it may have risks also. I'm just saying you have to use your own understanding on things and how it all works.

so it works on 5.0.2 or not ? there is info on github "DO NOT UPDATE TO 5.0.2 FOR THIS" WTF ??
It might work on 5.0.2 , but you shouldn't update the system just to test this. It would be better to wait for the official release of atmosphere and Fusée Gelée.

The IPL is fine. It's not damaging the SoC. I would still use caution as Naehrwert is speaking about his own IPL and not other ones that were forked.
