I just bought a 50$ gift card for 3ds, and I want to buy one of the three zelda games. I'm eventually going to play all 3, but which should I buy first?(I'm kinda new to zelda games)

I don't recommend A Link Between Worlds if you intend to play in chronological order. A Link to the Past (SNES Virtual Console) should be played first before ALBW. That game is a bit hard.

You can't play Majora's Mask unless you finish OoT first. MM is really f'd up in terms of Zelda games.

Judging from Nintendo's pricing, looks like you could get either both Ocarina of Time and Link between Worlds, or Majora's Mask alone.
(Ocarina of Time $20)

(Link Between Worlds $20)

(Majora's Mask $40)

Honestly, I'm a sucker for Ocarina of Time. I've played it so many times I've lost count. Though Majora's Mask has much more replay-ability with the number of side quests and events going on.
If you're looking for a good straightforward adventure, grab Ocarina of Time. If you'd like a slightly less hand-holding game with plenty of side-quests, grab Majora's Mask. I haven't played Link Between Worlds, so I can't vouch for that one.

A good question to ask OP is whether he/she is buying digital copies of the games on Nintendo eShop using the gift card and if the he/she is located in S. Korea.

:!: Dropped everything you're doing now and play that game ASAP!

Link between worlds and Ocarina of time is like $45, but majora's mask is like $49(why is it so expensive:ohnoes:)

I just bought Majora's Mask for now, thanks all for giving me advice!
Forewarning! If you intend to play Majora's Mask first, know that it chronological takes place after Ocarina of Time. If you're the type of gamer who's concerned about spoilers and cares about the story aspect of a game, you might want to reconsider starting off with Ocarina of Time first. It's good that you got a copy of Majora's Mask when the time comes to tackle that game.

Also, Majora's Mask is very reward but is considered frustrating when first picking it up. This is especially true for many Zelda fans as it doesn't play like a typical RPG adventure and is VERY different than most typical Zelda games.

You cannot play that game like most sequenced-base games where you do things in orders of A > B > C.

In case you have CFW or homebrew on your 3DS, might you consider freeShop in acquiring your games? It'll depend how comfortable you are with your morals.

When I first loaded the game I didn't know what was really going on, and I saw something that looks like the OoT ocarina. I didn't know it was a sequel, so I'm raising money to buy OoT and play that first.

And no, I don't have plans on hacking my 3DS. I hacked previous systems but I don't know, I just want to keep my 3DS(and future systems) warranted.

Thing is you can install legit cia without a permanent cfw. So you could get oot64 and keep your 3ds stock.

MM3d is a direct sequel, but you will only get minor spoilers if you play it first. The two games take place in different dimensions essentially.

well Majoras mask and ocarina of time are remakes of n64 games while a link between worlds is a sequel to the snes game A link to the past link between worlds is for sure the shortest but there all fun games

I really wish they would release a link to the past in the albw engine.

Because man albw is fun, but it doesn't even come close to the original.

Oh great, you know what this means? Someone's going to request an inverse of that. Make ALBW into the SNES ALttP style.

For ALttP in 3DS engine, probably should start hitting up Facebook, Twitter, /r/3DS subreddit, and Nintendo customer feedback support to make it happen.

That reminds me of the old days where a lot of people wanted a 2d ocarina of time. One famous guy attempting it faked his own death because it was too hard for a team of one to pull off.

I think if ninty thought aLttP on 3ds was a good decision they would've made it already. Unfortunately I think it's too close to the 3ds' end of life for a game like that to be developed.
