I own the game and play it religiously. I'll probably buy the switch version (cartridge only) since I bought the wii u's digitally. I'm pretty content with odyssey (my only switch game) though.

Honestly I am shocked that there is still a Wii U eShop. Nintendo dropped support for the Wii U before the Switch was even released, so I was expecting the eShop to drop just as quickly. Nintendo really seems ashamed of how poorly the Wii U preformed.

TBF, the Wii U released in 2012 and the Wii Shop Channel will still be up until 2019. I'm expecting the same lifetime for the Wii U and 3DS eShop.

I mean those systems were actually successful. Nintendo is very much trying to forget the Wii U happened and I am just shocked that they aren't just pulling all the plugs and going into complete denial mode like they do their previous failures.

The Wii U isn't as much of a failure as some people make it out to be. I'm sure there would be an uproar if they shut down the eShop so soon.

I mean it wasn't horrible, but The Big N sure seemed disappointed by it and were very quick to move to the Switch. I know it would be stupid for them to pull the plug so early, but Nintendo does like to quickly bury their mistakes.

There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.

10/10 would Bob Ross again
But I digress, this is an obvious attempt to push people to buy the Switch version.

That, I agree with. It's pretty scummish, too. People didn't even get a warning that it'll be removed, and now everyone has to buy the game on Switch for a full $60.
There will probably still be retail copies available, but God knows for how long.

Long life to the Wii Shop, even if we can't anymore by buy points nor new contents added. But anyway, the Wii Shop have been much more supported than the Wii U one, till today.

How exactly is the Wii U version inferior? Funky Kong doesn't make the game any better.
Like it or not, easy Funky mode is still a new feature which the Wii U version doesn't have, so that technically makes the Switch version superior.
