It depends, 1.0.0 will get the Atmosphere CFW first, but you will be locked out of playing games that require a higher fw.
I don't thing the advantage of have a 1.0.0 will be that big. On the other side, I heard that 1.0.0 consoles are quite sought after on
ebay. Could be worth to buy from the money perspective.
I was under the assumption that with cfw and EmuNAND, you will be able to play games that require a higher firmware than the one you're currently on?

Also, regarding XAW1000. Do the box and console numbers mostly match in terms of 1.0.0? I found another one, and the guy gave the serial number off of the console because he no longer had the box.

While things like EmuNAND or other solutions to play games that require a higher fw will certainly released at one point, that doesn’t mean that it will be directly after a cfw has been released. In my understanding, cfw means one thing: Being able to have control over the switch at or right after boot. Anything else still has to be developed. How fast or slow that will be I don’t know. In my opinion, cfw early for 1.0.0 is that developers can get a head start befor cfw for later fw will be released.

About the serial on box and console, yes, they match in almost all cases. But if the Switch was removed from packaging, do you know for sure that it wasn’t updated outside?

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, it was updated unfortunately, but I've found another sealed so I'll be picking that up today (hopefully). And thank you for all your help! If I have to stick with my 4.1 and wait it out, that's fine! I'm just excited to see what's in store for the rest of the year!

So judging by comments, if I wanna get a Switch before they release a hardware revision, it's cool to just get one brand new currently rather than hunting around for a preowned low version?

Got a crazy good deal on a switch today. To any Canadians here Shoppers Drug Mart is having seniors day (I was not carded but you could always guilt a grandparent or hobo or any 55+ person) today which is 20% off plus + 10 dollar gift card if you spend $50 dollars or more. Put the switch to 361.18 CAD after taxes and enviro fees, I then spent the 10 dollar gift card on chips.
Got a low firm too considering nobody buys games system at a drug store.
XAW100250***** which seems to be a 3.XX pretty good tbh.

edit: Was a Gray console, no bundle. It's also staying in the closet not getting turned on until haxz come.

Serial on device matches serial on box: The serial was hidden. No more cut through holes on the box.
Region: Asia
Firmware:4.1.0
Color option:Neon
Store: Online store, official authorized dealer unit from Taiwan
Was a bundle (if yes, which):No
Purchase date:24.4.2018

Had some trouble looking up serial numbers with XAK prefix. This is probably made in Korea.
Korea launched the Switch on Dec 1st which was the same launch day in Taiwan.
XAK probably only has firmware 4.1.0 and upward since launch.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Serial Number: XAJ70007235903
Region: Europe
Firmware: 5.0.2
System Color: Blue/Red
Was a bundle (if yes, which): No

5.0.2 out of the box? Is it a used unit? Pretty Scary that 5.0.2 firmware is out.
