While I won't stop you from trying, historically Nintendo has cared about Change.org petitions about as much as the average person cares about assessing the obscure vocalist career of Jack the Ripper

I've seen a few petitions come true, but whether or not the petition had any power in the decision-making is completely arbitrary. Nintendo certainly wont say that the petition is what made them make the decision. I think it is just coincidence. They do, however, acknowledge the existence of the individual petitions.

Why do people have the need for youtube/netflix? Most people have a smartphone/tablet/laptop to watch those. And I would say switch is not the most comfortable device to watch movies or series.

Was going to say just this. The ability to use these services is build in to just about anything else in someone's life.

Docked mode?

With the standard dock you cannot see the screen at all. I know there are third party docks that do not obstruct the screen. As for watching it while plugged into a TV or monitor, refer to the above qoute. With the plethora of other devices that someone probably has it is a moot point, at least in my opinion. Heck I'd rather spend money on something like a Chromecast and gain a much better way to watch all of the streaming platforms and more.

All in all, I don't mind the Switch not having these services. I'd rather use my Switch to play games.

Hmmm... I really think change.org and similar platforms end up being mostly circlejerking echo chambers, and nothing really "changes" in the end. Most of the time. Except when Nintendo is involved. Then it never changes. Unless it was the plan from the get-go and they took the opportunity to use the "campaign" as publicity, as in e.g. "Operation Rainfall".

IMHO a waste of time. If it is planned, it will happen, eventually.

What does that have to do with literally anything

I know that I'm not the only one who still owns an oldish TV with only one HDMI port. Currently my Wii U occupies that port, which my family uses to watch Netflix and Prime videos on. Until proper media apps on the Switch are released, that prevents me from docking my Switch at our main (and biggest) TV

I started typing without thinking and took docked mode to mean watching it while on the dock, not thinking of being hooked into a TV and just left the text there and wrote a new thought afterwards

As for the other point, fair enough!

well i agree with all, but all time in the life and other things you have to try everthing. I did a small change on my university because of that. i will do the petition the next weekend and see what happen.

I'm genuinely curious, has change.org ever made any change in real life? Even if it's not related to videogames.

As far as I have known that site, its for kids to request whatever they feel like, like Goku for Smash

Just give them time, they'll all come, slowly but surely (well maybe not Crunchyroll, but I'm certain Youtube and Netflix are on the way).

It *won't* work. Sorry.
The services you want on Switch are already aware that there's a demand for it, specially Netflix. The thing is that Nintendo is focusing only on gaming, and only a few apps are allowed right now. In fact, I believe that HULU's contract involves some kind of exclusivity for a short period, and that's maybe the reason there's no other service (at least not in US) at the moment.

Companies are always three or four steps ahead of what consumers want, and you're unfortunally being too naïve to think that a simple online petition would have some impact, specially in an obvious subject like streaming services on a device that has only one at the moment.
