Help! I’ve tried everything and I’ve checked all the correct paths and naming conventions. Also have problems with wiiware wads when playing off of as card. Everything is off of the sad card (no hd). I have to use wananiko 1:1 menu patcher each time I want to play the wiiware games. So I read something about missing signatures and needing ios85? I’m confused! Can I use multi mod mngr to just install forwarders with ios85 then after the install go back to ios60?

To run fakesigned channels "off the SD card" using the official feature, you must trucha patch your system menu IOS, whichever it is (for 4.0 it's 60, unsurprisingly many guides assume you're on 4.3 and therefore 80 as that's what most people are) - if you have Priiloader installed you could even just change its settings to run System Menu off a CIOS

On top of that, you need the correct IOS for those channels, regardless of what method you use to run them; you can check which one it is using a tool such as ShowMiiWads, but I would doubt it would be 85 (barring some "creative" choice of whoever made them), since 85 isn't an official IOS

It's IOS 58 that homebrew usually uses. Fakesigned WiiWare requires restoring the Trucha bug to the system menu's IOS. It's best just to upgrade to 4.3 and reinstall the HBC and cIOSes if necessary and easier to run WW/VC from emulated NAND.

It might be best to post a SysCheck report (in spoiler tags) first. It sounds like your console could be in some in-between state as far as updates go.

I’m on a Mac, so can I use “Wadder” instead of showmiiwads? Also, there were two ios60 versions to choose from and I went with v6174 no truchabug because I read people bricking their Wii’s. Is it safe to install the truchabug patch as of now with my above mentioned setup?

It's never completely safe to install patched files the console requires. Why not just use the emuNAND method?

Grey Wolf,
If I update to 4.3 it will wipe everything I’ve modded so far? I’d just need to redo the whole process, right? All wads, cIOSes? Sounds intimidating. :,(

I don’t know what emunand is so I’ll do some yt searching on that. Based on my position, would you recommend a complete update and job reinstall? Or emunand?

Run SysCheck from the link I posted so we can see what state your Wii is in first.
Okay I ran it and I have the .csv file. Because I'm new, how do I get this to you?? Please let me know what I need to do next. Thanks!

The forwarders aren't loading because you don't have IOS 58, which is what I expected. Your cIOS in 249 is pretty old and it doesn't seem to know which one is 250.

If your Wii is connected to the internet it should be safe to just do an update from the system menu settings. It will put stubs in 249/250 but you should replace those anyway. You also might need to reinstall the homebrew channel.

Running the HackMii installer after the update should get you the HBC back and updated. Cyan has a pack for installing d2x cIOS and instructions in this post (step 2 unless you want USB Loader GX, too.)

If you still want to run WW/VC from the system menu after that I can post some links for you. If you want to try running them from SD/USB instead of patching the system menu IOS we can do that, too.

So just pretty much update the normal way and it won't brick me? After the d2x cIOS install, can I still play my back-up discs? I'd want USB Loader GX, but don't have an external HD, yet. WW/VC from the SD menu would be great, as that's what I'm doing now. One last thing: There's a thread "Guide to Safely UPDATE your SOFTMOD!!" on here by Portugeek https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-t...ftmod-fixes-most-compatibility-issues.394397/ Would that be a good option, as well for updating?

I think I'm going to follow your steps with a SM 4.3 update and then re-mod, i was just trying to avoid having to reinstall all my wads, custom system menu, and setup again. Also, I can't find anyone with a PC that wants to run ModMii for me since it's labeled with a fake virus. They don't trust it. Soo, I'll keep you guys posted, and thanks for all of the help up until now. Although, I'll definitely have some more questions, soon :)

Grey Wolf I finally upgraded to 4.3 and have HBC, USB Loader GX, and did the d2x cIOS install. I'm still stuck with the forwarders not working, and my ww/vc wads on the sd card only play if I use Wanininko's 1:1 menu patcher each time :(

Well just in case anyone else runs into my problem, after following Grey Wolf's directions, (look above), I was able to get everything working. After the 4.3 update through the SM which was safe and no brick, I installed IOS58 and reinstalled all of my mods, channels, and Wiiware/VC wads. Good to go!
